The World Youth Organization!
March 18, 2003 - 08:18 AM
|
|
Description:
The World Youth Organization’s primary focus is on world peace, through international student participation. It is designed to serve as a means of second-track diplomacy for countries in current conflict.
WYO is an organization of students, from countries around the world, considering a life in politics, foreign policy, or diplomacy. They will meet several times a year (frequency, depending upon the urgency of the conflicts being discussed), under the guidance of current and retired world leaders, to work on existing global issues. The results would be forwarded to all interested parties. The participating students are of open minds, and willing to research and address issues from a global perspective. The bond, respect, and friendship they develop will carry through as they grow and progress towards their leadership positions. It will be a training ground for future leaders. It will not be dominated by any one country. The connections made with one another (country to country), will serve to eliminate future differences that could lead to war. There will also be local chapters established in colleges and high schools around the world. These will serve as a tremendous resource for information and research, on issues being debated at the international level.
WYO can serve another purpose as well. Sometimes people want to communicate, but are unable to do so because of protocol, legal issues, or just ‘saving face’; yet they needed to get their message across. As youth, we are the perfect non-threatening source. This group could also be used in that manner to relay information and have it discussed in an informal way. This group would be different from the World Youth Forum of the United Nations, in that the UN group meets only once every four years, and consists of mostly college students, with continually changing membership, under the direction of the UN. WYO would be an independent, more active, and younger group focused on current events, and supported by the participating countries. Members would remain connected for a lifetime. Younger members will always be added. The main objective of the group will be to train world leaders towards the universal goal of global peace.
Leaders today must be prepared for so much more than years ago. What is done in one country has a direct effect on everyone else in the world: you are not just leaders of one country; you are world leaders, whose decisions have an impact on everyone. Even the smallest country's decisions, influence those of larger nations. In order to be effective, leaders must know the history, culture, and religions of all countries; since everyone’s motives and actions are governed by these things.
Now more than ever, countries must be able to communicate. Today’s technology allows us to connect easier, but actual communication requires human understanding. The threat of nuclear destruction hangs over our heads like a ripe apple ready to drop. There is tension in the air, and there are too many war toys ready for use. Many are predicting the beginning of World War III and the possible destruction of the human race. Tomorrows leaders will have to be prepared to work in a global community and be willing to make concessions that they would never have considered, even a decade ago. One person alone can not do it all. We must operate as a global community towards the universal goal of peace. As Jimmy Carter said in his 2002 Nobel Peace Prize Lecture, “We will never learn how to live together in peace, by killing each other’s children”. We must find a better way.
The World Youth Organization was made a Delaware 501c3 corporation on September 11, 2002, in memory of the tragedy, and the lives needlessly lost due to violence. Immerging from the dust of terrorism, WYO aspires to become a light of hope for future generations.
Contact information: Michael Cartier, CEO of the World Youth Organization (WYO): Email address: WorldYouthOrg@aol.com
Goals:
The World Youth Organization has been established as an international forum for youth, on existing global conflicts; providing a second-track diplomatic channel for world leaders.
Needs:
The World Youth Organization(WYO) is expanding it's youth membership through international high school and college chapters, as well as individual memberships through the Internet. The WYO is also recruiting additional advisory board members from around the world. Corporate sponsorships and individual donations, as well as other financial grants, are requested to fund communications, research, events, and other related expenses.
Others Involved:
We have established connections with world leaders and embassies, as well as with community leaders from different nations. There will be a continual relationship with 'TakingITGlobal', and with other related organizations. We are currently based in the United States.
How to get there:
Under the 'projects' page, go to 'leadership projects', and the World youth Organization will be there. Remember, we are always happy to have new members.

Hello all! We are "Article 2",a group formed by young people from five continents, decided to change the world. We know that if we put together our forces we can build a better future for our planet. That`s why we want to help all children and teenagers all over the world to solve problems they encounter and show them they are not alone,as we care and we are there for them.We thought of organising an e-discussion because we would like to discuss with other young people about discrimination. All forms of discrimination. We believe this is a great danger as it really affects our generation .We all have the same rights( including the right to be happy!),no matter what our culture, nationality, gender, religion, language, colour skin, health status ,opinions, or social origin might be.Then why do we meet every day a case of discrimination? Why are there so many children and teenagers who are desperately trying to live a normal life, but are constantly rejected and marginalised? Can we do something? The answer is yes.Let`s talk about what troubles us most:whether you call it bullies or racialism or inequality or injustice or simply loneliness,is still there,in our lives!Together we can find solutions! Participate at the debate, tell what you think, become a member of our group, make a difference now! We are waiting to hear your suggestions and thoughts.Welcome to "Article2-Youth Against Discrimination" discussion! The e-dicussion will take place on the Voices of Youth Unicef site.(www.unicef.org/voy/discussions/).
