Mediators' Call to Action
October 29, 2006 - 05:39 AM

Background:
The Call to Action below was presented in October 2006 in Keystone, Colorado at the Consolidating Our Collective Wisdom Conference sponsored by The Keystone Center and Mediate.com.
The impetus and motivation for developing the Call to Action was twofold:
First, the undeniable existence of the current perils which confront innumerable nations and the world as a whole.
Secondly, the opportunity for representatives of our profession to clearly insist that proven processes and skills for the prevention, management and resolution of volatile intra and international conflict must be endorsed and effectively employed by elected and appointed governmental officials everywhere.
The statement was purposely written to apply universally, to be non accusatory, to be non political and to be brief. We expect the Mediators’ Call to Action to be permanent, for endorsements to grow globally and for signatories to develop various action plans to make the Call to Action real by word and deed. We invite you, we indeed urge you to join your colleagues in your public declaration that conflict resolution is more than a pronouncement, more than a profession -- it is action.
Here is the October 11, 2006 Mediators' Call to Action:
