"no one is perfect. yet, as a perfectionist, i hope that many people will try to make the world more perfect by making themselves more perfect. through exposure to other countries and ideas, we can cultivate compassion and understanding, losing the need to destroy the beliefs of others. instead, we can appreciate the value of other cultures. it is not so difficult to enjoy the caviar from russia or the cuisines of china. certainly it can not be impossible to respect their political ideologies as well. if we can accept others, this acceptance moves toward peace. the greatest sign of strength is humility, which indicates a satisfaction of oneself that leaves no need to appear powerful. we must create a society founded on love. George Orwell writes in 1984 of the futuriatic world that 'old civilizations claimd that they were founded on love or justice, ours is founded on hatred.' we must eradicate the possibility of such a world ever existing."
