Dear All,
The African Union Ministers of Youth holding their first session in Addis Ababa (28 May 2006) adopted the African Youth Charter and subsequently ratified by Heads of state at the AU Summit in Banjul, the Gambia (July 2006).
The Charter took into consideration the United Nations World Programme of Action for Youth to the year 2000 and beyond with a major focus on the fifteen identified priority areas, NEPAD framework for youth and the cultural development of Africa, the eight Millennium Development Goals etc
The adopted African Youth Charter highlights: Youth responsibilities and participation in its implementation; Education and skills development; Poverty eradication; Sustainable livelihoods and Youth employment; Health including SRH/HIV/AIDS and prevention of drugs and substance abuse; Peace and security; Youth and culture, Elimination of discrimination against girls and young women and Harmful traditional practices.
Young people have been tasked to hold their governments responsible to their commitments to popularize and implement the charter.

It is unfortunate that most of these things are told to us not by our governments but by other individuals.All in all, I am happy to note that some of us care about one another. Keep it up and enlighten others too on what you have.I already had an idea of the chatter as I am a member of Kenya Model United Nations.
