West Africa - The Aftermath

I sometimes think that what Im trying to pursue is crazy. If anyone reads this, and actually believes in what i say, please respond. Everyone's busy with Iraq, Lebanon, Israel and the Middle East. Why dont we stop for a minute and think about West Africa: Liberia and its neighbour to the West: Sierra Leone. Even though the war is over, but the aftermath is overwhelming. The borders of Sierra Leone and Liberia is still infested with gun running. Till this very day, people in these poor countries are dieing becasue some rich arms dealer is providing them with the weapons, while some vile sadistic leader pays him. The figures and statistics are shocking, every minute a man, woman or child is killed. Cause of death : fire arms. 9 out of 10 deaths on this planet is casued by fire arms. When will it end? As a matter of fact, when will WE start protesting?

Thinking about Sierra Leone does not seem crazy at all, it's probably all the more necessary given its low mainstream media exposure.
Anyone needing some background can read the wiki page which contains more useful links.
The pbs page also looks pretty informative.
On top of BearySpecial's great suggestions, for those looking to get involved, we have some links on TIG that can direct you to other region specific organizations.

Hello Butterfly-Media,
Very good question? We all have started protesting just as you have just done. One way that Building A Better Future partakes is via Dual Global Citizenship.
DCG is part of a Global Humanitarian Relief effort for equal and Universal issues.
We Support and reconize the need to Save Children Now and many other humanitarian issues through a vast consortium of organizations, businesses, youth and individuals.
We have taken a stand by speaking out and advocating every chance we get.
Warm Regards,
BearySpecial

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I COMPLEEETELY AGREE. My dad is from a Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, and I am completely aware of how terrible its become over time due to the increase in drug trafficking and use of illegal fire arms
I have always been focused on West Africa and have huge dreams of improving it's poverty stricken countries. It feels amazing to know I'm not alone. Together, I know we can make positive change.
If there is any way I can help with this issue, PLEASE do not hesitate to inform me.
Sincerely,
Yzeula Barbosa
