Tea 'healthier' drink than water

"Drinking three or more cups of tea a day is as good for you as drinking plenty of water and may even have extra health benefits, say researchers.
The work in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition dispels the common belief that tea dehydrates.
Tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers, UK nutritionists found.
Experts believe flavonoids are the key ingredient in tea that promote health.
....
Studies on caffeine have found very high doses dehydrate and everyone assumes that caffeine-containing beverages dehydrate. But even if you had a really, really strong cup of tea or coffee, which is quite hard to make, you would still have a net gain of fluid.
"Also, a cup of tea contains fluoride, which is good for the teeth," she added.

well they keep coming up with such 'findings' ....
sometimes tea is better...sometimes coffee is the best ..sometimes its not..
sometimes chocolates is good and sometimes its is not..
i mean they keep on changing as when they conduct new studies...
i think there is soemthing wrong with their sampling methods.
Actually it might all depend on the kind of method they use for sampling....if they change the method ...for example from random to convenience or judgment then their results might also change !!!

Tea is fantastic, but real tea has more caffeine in it than coffee does - so you might wind up drinking more than three glasses in a day, but you also might wind up not sleeping so well that night

Yet another article about the research conducted by Japanese about the tea, but the green one only But some claim that its not the green tea but the japanese diet which is so successful in reducing advent of certain illnesses... anyway, read on!
"Drinking green tea can substantially cut the risk of dying from a range of illnesses, a Japanese study has found.
The research, which looked at over 40,000 people, found the risk of fatal cardiovascular disease was cut by more than a quarter.
...
Dr Shinichi Kuriyama, who led the research, said: "The most important finding is that green tea may prolong people's lives through reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease."
The study attempted to take account of other factors, such as diet.
But Ellen Mason, a cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said the Japanese diet as a whole was particularly healthy, and the findings may not apply to people eating western diets.
