[Poll] u.s military

I just watched a documentary the other
day called "Enemy Image" on the CBC and it scared the hell out of me. It was a documentary about the u.s military and the people behind it. It talked about how television and reporters had an impact on people's views about the war in vietnam and how that made the military personell, president and other top gov officials look for ways to show only the side of the military not the civilians being harmed such as implementing the "embedded reporters system". (no wonder I haven't been seeing any families, women and children in the coverage on the war in iraq mostly men raoming the streets) it also shows clear evidence of how the military staged some events to win the hearts of the american people such as when the iraqi's brought down the statue of saddam hussein and the jessica lynch story (ppl should really read into the facts of this) anyways it went on too talk about how this certain reporter had video of civillians who were injured during the gulf war (very gruesome ) and got fired by nbc for trying to show the video and was given the no by cbs (tells you how much the media is being controlled). Well all that was just some of the foul stuff that was going , what scared me most was at the end when they were talking about the types of technology the military presently were working on. They showed this thing that could make a person invisible during combat and that scared me cause that is going to leave way for a lot of human right abuses and innocent losses and if that technology got into the hands of some loose cannons there is sure to be havoc in the world. anyways that are just some of the things that scared me. I highly reccomend people watch this documentary coz it will give you a lot of insight into what the world is coming too and what the u.s military does not want you too know. I find it really hypocritical now when u.s government officials go ahead and criticize other nations for their military programs while they are cooking up some scary stuff themselves. we need to start asking questions and holding ppl accountable as the youth of the world and not stand for this nonsense
do you think the u.s media is controlled to an extent by the military

I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing this issue to light. we cannot allow the media to be controlled by the media. As a forward thinking Marxist-Lenninist i belive that a free media is key to a good society.

well Media cannot be raised to a pedestal ...Media has to be responsible enough to be trusted with confidential matters.
the 24 hour news channels here in India have started playing on sensationalism lately to boost their TRPs.
A quick dollar is more important to them than honest reporting which is why we have 'dramatic' reporting and soap opera like coverage of war events.
Print media is not far behind ...but there is still some honest reporting going on in Print esp with very good editorials.
i do think that US gives a lot of freedom to its citizens yet observing CNN does bring out that News is something that the govt dicates...
the individuals who want to make a differnce bring out documentaries like this

While we cannot ignore the bias on the part of some news agency's we must aslo value what we have. Think of what can be published here as opposed to say china or even the former USSR.

That is true but the u.s media is definetely bias most of the time, while they are not as controlled as some other countries the people behind it are smart in giving the image of a freedom of speech media while working psychology to their advantage (I have to give fox props on this one they should pay the brains behind that show a great deal amount of money) cause it seems to be working for them after all they still manage to be the "most trusted name in news" in america despite their blatant biases and lies.

Give me an example how it is biased.
Get your naive heads out of the sand. The media does not tell the military what to do in th US. I read at least 5 papers a day here and do not get that impression. How can you make these points if you do not live in the US and see it day to day.
