Rachel Corrie was a 23-year-old American peace activist from Olympia, Washington, who was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer on 16 March 2003, while undertaking nonviolent direct action to protect the home of a a Palestinian doctor, his wife, and three children from demolition. Since her killing, an enormous amount of solidarity activities have been carried out in her name around the world.
But Only few people around the world know about this courageous peace activist. Please learn about Rachel Corrie throughout the following link:

Not to minimize her tragic death, but Angelo Frammartino did not receive the same media attention.
Like Rachel Corrie, Angelo Frammartino was an idealistic young foreign political activist who came to Israel to work on behalf of the Palestinians. And, like her, he met a violent end here.

Important contrast.

Thank you.
I am a relative of Rachel Corrie and although I never met her myself, I know her parents, sister, grandmother and cousins. Her death had a profound and lasting effect on my family.
The news of her death was overshadowed by the start of the war in Iraq but there was still a reaction.
In fact the play about her life, originally put on in London, is coming to New York this year.

Hello brother,
Rachel corrie is now being a symbole of youth action for peace.
I am adding my voice up to yours saying: yes i am proud of her, and she could be an exemple and a good inspiration for anyone of us. Only there are three point to emphasis here:
1-Rachel wasn't an exemple of any suicide project. she was full of life to death. and was ready to pay the price no matter how much painfull it was.
( this is not to disagree with any of your stands though.)
2-Rachel corries was a victim of what she herself described as "systematic" distructive policy against the values of freedom and social justice. yet, it's higly recommended that she becomes concidered as a result to the failure of the tendency of distruction. and not just a new number added up to the tolls of a was in the middle east.
3-Rachel Corrie had a dream. and it was why she was in Ghaza. she might have been now dead, but she had perfectly passed the responsibility on to every single one who happens to know about her. the thing now is that she expects an effective, collaborative and well guided action of youth that she perfectly represented. in order for more lives to be saved and for her soul to rest in peace.
Love ya all.
Pray for peace.

I would like first to thank everybody who shared that topic.
when we talk about the murder of Rachel, we talk about something well planned - so it was on purpose. Moreover, Israel considers itself as a state, so it's not suposed to deal this way with peace activists. But what hapened to the Italian guy was something done by indeviduals. and here we can imagine how palestinians are psichologically depressed, the what can we expect from tem? In additio to that, indevidual reactions are not to be compared to the so-called state.

p-h:
"when we talk about the murder of Rachel, we talk about something well planned - so it was on purpose."
Was this well-planned, as you say? Or was it an accident?
"Moreover, Israel considers itself as a state, so it's not suposed to deal this way with peace activists. But what hapened to the Italian guy was something done by indeviduals. and here we can imagine how palestinians are psichologically depressed, the what can we expect from tem? In additio to that, indevidual reactions are not to be compared to the so-called state."
How do you know that this was done by the state? Is there any evidence that the government directly ordered the driver of the bulldozer to drive over Rachel Corrie? Similarly, how do you know that the Palestinians were not acting under orders from their government?
I appreciate that you are putting a lot of thought into this, but I'd just like to caution everyone against jumping to conclusions... we need to base our conclusions about what happened to Rachel on fact, where possible, and not let ourselves jump to conclusions on such a sensitive issue...

Here is her website for those who are interested, it has some of her writings, also, it has a lot of details and news reports about the incident, and things leading up to it, as well as previous encounters with the IDF and the bulldozing forces. I hope you will gain as much respect for her as I do.

Rachel Corrie was a noble and courageous lady. I am pretty sure many people don't have the courage she possessed to stand for peace and against aggression.
Rest assured the Palestinian people won't forget about this great lady.
