In uganda we celebrate our indepence day every 9th october each year. This day is a public day and everyone plans for it in his/her special way, either go to villages, independence party,disco/movies,church service or attend the independence assembly and etc.
Indepence celebrations always take place from kololo Airstrip were diffferent presidents and guest from different countries are invited. There is always speaches from the president who is Mr yoweri kaguta museveni and any invited guest according to order of the day.Entertainment from the Army bands marching, students, organisations, companies and some tradition dancers/music. So the day is really very interesting, hope yours too.
Independence day ends even up to the next day some times depending on how you had yours.Thats all i have for you says trisha

Canada Day is a celebration of the union of its provinces instead of an independence movement as a British colony. It used to be called Dominion Day. It is probably the closest thing we have to an Independence Day and it's celebrated July 1.
Since it's in the summer, a lot of people have barbecues and do outdoor things. In the evenings there's usually fireworks. I don't find celebrations terribly patriotic in Toronto but certainly there is a lot going on. There are often free concerts and family oriented events in the city.

Last year I celebrated Canada Day in way that I feel is about as Albertan as it can possibly get. My friend and I went out to the Town Athabasca. Every July 1st they host the Magnificent River Rats Festival. We got in our car and road-tripped out there to go watch Corb Lund. If you want to get to know Albertan culture listen to some Corb Lund. He is the Albertan artist who exemplifies what Alberta is. Athabasca has their stage set outdoors on the Athabasca River. It was a beautiful way to spend our nation's birthday.
