Unable to manage organization listing
August 12, 2006 - 01:28 AM

I'd like to update an organization listing I created some time ago for The Hunger Project (http://orgs.takingitglobal.org/2620) but when I attempt to launch the "Manage Your Organization" tool (http://manage.takingitglobal.org/) I am informed that I have insufficient access rights, even though I am listed under "Affiliated Members and Listing Managers." Am I missing something?

Thanks, ...mjb

I'd like to do something like this as well, for the "English Secondary Students" organisation... Somehow the name came through incorrectly - it should be "English Secondary Students' Association (ESSA)".

Thanks!
Frederick

Murray,

In order to be able to edit an organization you need to be added as a listing manager via the admin part of our site. You can't simply add yourself as one.. but I've gone ahead and added you so that you can now manage the org listing.

Rapscallion -- I went ahead and changed org name.

Thanks, Hugh! :-)

I would have expected that having originally created the listing that I would have been assigned as the listing manager by default. However, I did this quite a long time ago so I speculate that it is possible that something was lost along the way during migration of content over new versions of the site software.

You're only added as the listing manager if you place your email address in the "contact" field and that email address is related to a TIG account. Either that, or when you receive the automatic email (assuming your email address is in the contact field) then you're also sent two links that allow you to associate your account with the org.

Hope that clarifies things. If not, let me know. AIDS 2006 is tiring smile

Thanks again, Hugh. That does clarify things. However, it also raises another issue...

I discovered that TIG mail messages are being rejected by my mail server, apparently due to a misconfiguration of TIG's SMTP server. As an anti-spam policy, my server (Debian Linux postfix) requires that relaying mail servers send SMTP headers with fully-qualified domain names and have corresponding MX records in the registered DNS entry. The TIG messages seem only to use unqualified (i.e. short) hostnames.

I'd be grateful if you would please investigate this matter.

Thanks! ...mjb

Hi Murray,

I have since forwarded this to our email guru and hopefully we can track this down and fix it. I'm sure it's something easy to fix (hopefully!)
