What the world cup is to me...

Well, it's not really so big a deal to me who wins and who loses. And I'd way rather play soccer than watch it! But it is neat to see teams that've never really won before beating out other teams that have . For watching sports though, I love it!!! It's so amazing what those guys can do--kinda makes me wish I could play like that, inspires me a little bit . Wish there were women's teams like that!

The world cup is perhaps the only truly global sport that people in every country know about en masse. It is a game even the poorest can play. In Africa one can see balls made out of condensed plastic bags tied together with string and a game played on a dirt pitch with goal posts made from sticks.
The World Cup brings together world nations in a spirit of sportsmanship. Everyone learns to understand how small the world is and how easily we can forget our differences - once we're on the pitch, it's 11 against 11 - the people are equal.

Greatest show on Earth. Forget Ringling Bros...
Countries coming together, playing together, having a good time, putting it all on the table, and
...the teams with serious countries regretting not carrying shotguns and riot shields when they come home a loser to an angry country.
Pride. Determination. Human Spirit. And the World's way to show patriotism, especially when a team with good food wins and has good booze to go with it.
CHAU!!
...that went well.
