For those who saw the final match in the last world cup, no doubt Zidane was provoked, but do you think that he overreacted and shouldn't have done what he did under any circumstances??

Of course Zidane was wrong, but still I am really curious about what the Italian guy said to upset Zidane. I mean, Zidane has been a professional football player for such a long time and I think he is very "sympa". I really hadn't expected Zidane to do sth. like that... But I guess we will find out tonight.

"The France legend did not reveal what Materazzi said, but claimed it was "very personal" and concerned his mother and his sister."
So Zidane apologized to all children and to anyone that might have caused some isconfort but eh didnt apologize to Materazzi saying he didnt regret whet he did to Materazzi.
But according to Materazzi, who lost his mother when he was 14, he would never insult a mother.
Moreover, after talking to some Italian people and reading some news it was clear that the most MAterazzi could say would be about his sister.
But then again his disproportionate reaction didnt justify any insult cause this kind of insults happen all the time on the field. And we shouldnt forget that this isnt the first time.
He actually headbutted at least twice before, once being during the World Cup in 1998 and the second one recently during the Champions League games..
So i conclude by saying that he reacted this way cause perhaps he was tired, didnt achieve his desired result and game, and he had an aching right arm and was really exhausted...
Still, he got his Golden Ball, which i wouldnt give to him cause i dont consider him the best... but thats another story!!

I understand what Zidane did !!! and I feel a real sympathize with what he did !!
I think the problem is that the west doesn't understand that when an offence comes to our wifes, sisters, mothers or even religion then it's unbearable. We "Muslims" can bear death in defending such offence !!!!
What Zidane simply did that he put his career, France, his fans around the world in a scale and his religion maybe his family honor in the other scale, and defiantly he made the right chose, a choice the west will never understand.
I don't know when it come to the phrase UNDERSTAND in my country the first thing comes to every one's mind that "we" have to understand the "other" while it's completely ignores the fact that the "other" has to understand us !!!
we can't except any offence to our religion nor our prophet (PBUH) and even our families.
Is it so hard to be understood, or the "other" is so stupid to get that, and which part they can't understand??????????????????
So far it's not known what exactly was said to Zidane, but as he declared that it's a family offence, and as a BBC story, conversation for five minutes happened before the head butt of Zidane. i guess it's more than a family offence was said !!!

Apparently, Zidane was called a terrorist and got his mother/sister insulted. Nonetheless, that was only the final event that caused Zidane's anger, but it seems to me that Materazzi's and other Italian players' very unsportsman-like plays angered Zidane beforehands. Materazzi is such an aggressive player that he will easily get the other players angry at him. i would do more than just headbutt that guy. If something I treasure (my family and my identity) is marred, then I cannot withstand the injustice and blow up. This is characteristic of many other Koreans and it seems now that many other Egyptians and etc. Zidane really did the wrong thing by attacking another player, but the pain Materazzi caused Zidane is so much worse than the physical pain Materazzi felt. Zidane has to be the poorest thing in the world; just because of some embecile, heedless guy, his much celebrated career has to end like that.

Did Zidane overact? well that's a question that all of us have to answer in our day to day lives. I had a friend who grew up thinking that his grandmother was his mother until he was 20 yrs old..then one day he discovered the truth & murdered his real mother. Now that is OVERACTING!!!

Zidane's actions were inexcusable and if had any self-control he would not have snapped like that. I know he has a bad temper, but how can he do something so intolerable? There is room in any sport for that type of behavior.
