I read everything because I believe everything is worth reading; you can never tell the info the paper in the waste paper basket posses until you take a glance.
Who has read any of Maria Corelli’s work?
Sorrows of Satan or
Vendetta

books are essential in this age to expand one's consciousness. In a sense it keeps you connected with yourself. This is key when living in a society that just further estranges us from eachother. Technologies like tv, cellphones and yes even the internet (irony) dulls us from the experience of experiencing, which books cultivate.
Gabriel Garcia MArquez- 100 years of Solitude
Anything by William Faulkner AND Milan Kundera
Zoe Wicomb- David's Story
Dalene Mathee- Fiela se Kind
Toni Morrison- BEloved
Anything by Albert Camus
Non fiction: Germaine Greer- The Whole Woman
Naiomi Klein's a good one although i prefer The Beauty Myth
Anything by Fritoj (sp) Capra
But each book i read leaves me with something, thats why i'm addicted

I think, Chingiz Aitmatov is great! his stories are real, touching and very useful. his stories tell about crazy things happening in our world, but they are very interesting and exiting...all of them. I'm shure you'll cry when you read them. they'll get the deepest parts of your heart!

"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. A very interesting read. I can understand why this book has been on the best seller lists for a long time.
As the title suggests, the book argues that the existence of God is a theory like any other theory that must stand or fall on the evidence. A universe created and maintained by a deity is a very different universe from one without such a deity. Our universe clearly shows overwhelming evidence that Evolution alone is the engine driving life on this planet. Creationist arguments are based on wishful thinking and ignorance of science. The origin of the universe? Dawkins mentions a few possibilities being debated by physicists. He is confident that science will conquer that question, too. In the meantime, the default position--God did it--is undeserving of the consideration it has received throughout the ages. Now, let's get on with the real problems here on Earth!

I really love reading to... From Comic Books to dictionaries... I could spend days here talking about my favorite books, but the subject is books that make you think or act... And there are also many books that made me think and act... But there is a speciall one:
The Kite Runner
I believe that this is the most incredible book ever, its the kind of thing you read once and it stays on your mind forever...
Everybody should have it at home.

'The Politics of Empire: Globalization in Crisis' edited by Alan Freeman and Boris Kagarlitsky ...
has a good chapter on global disparity by Alan Freeman, [which was easy to understand even though I'm not in any way an economics person], and the last chapter by Boris Kagarlitsky is also worth checking out, even if you don't read the whole book ...

China Mievilles The Scar is my favourite book of all time. Disclaimer so no one comes after me and says you didn't warn me. It is violent at times, it is very literary you might have to use a dictionary at times, there are scenes that will never leave your memory be prepared to have them engraved in your mind, he doesn't shy away from anything sexual if you don't won't to read that skip pages or don't pick up the book, lastly there is some self injury if that disgusts you or you prefer not to read it there's one section you have to skip. So it's mature but it is completely worth reading. He also has an anthology of short stories out. The tain ( a story in the the anthology) is pretty good.
Other then that yeah His dark materials. It's not a hard read but it's just amazing and it's a series of young adult books so it doesn't come with any warnings, anyone can read it. But be prepared to throw the third book at the wall.
