I'm afraid it was Costa Rica and not Croatia. Croatia played a couple of days ago aginst Brazil and lost 0-1.
The straight line distance between Zagreb (Croatia's Capital) and San José (Costa Rica's Capital) is almost 6202 miles, or 9980 Kilometers.

Thanks for the correction, I have edited my previous post. England escaped with a 2-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago today, but I am still unconvinced with their performance. Maybe if they had eleven Steven Gerrards on the pitch, they would be unbeatable.
Having said that, Brazil did not convince me that they are going to repeat as World Champions, although I hope that they do. If "Roundaldo" continues to play like that, he will lose his starting spot to Robinho.
In conclusion, I am happy with the U.S.A.'s opening round loss to the Czech Republic, who along with Spain, probably had the most impressive opening round matches. Let's hope the U.S.A. loses to Italy on Saturday so that they can go home in time for their Major League Soccer season to start.

Yes, the Netherlands has a solidd squad and they have a good chance of making it to the finals, especially if they can get van Nistlerooy rolling.
Having said that, I still hope that they lose to the Ivory Coast on Friday.

I think that Trinidad and Tobago might also have a chance of winning because this is there first time playing in the World Cup and they probably trained extra harder than the others... Well... good luck to all the countries competing!!!

I used to like Italy with Maldini .
But somehow i didnt like their attitude in the last world cup ...they made far too many fouls on others...I appreciate a strong attack but it should not be aggressive and violent !
thats why i prefer Brazil , they are kool !!!
The footwork of brazilians is mesmerizing and unparalleled !!!
But i do hope one of the African countries enter the finals and i wish germany good luck ...and i am also with england ....dont know why ...but i have always been a supporter !!!( maybe its Beckham and Owen )
cheers!

Los Argentinos!
June 16, 2006 - 07:48 PM

Argentina impressed the world today with an overwhelming 6-0 win over Serbia and Montenegro. Their chances have significantly increased to reach an advanced level in this world cup.
Côte d'Ivoire are eliminated, but they gained a lot of respect for their fighting spirit.

Argentina looks like a very dangerous squad that is serious about winning the World Cup. It doesn't seem to matter that they are playing on a foreign continent.
Having said that, Argentina v Holland next week should prove to be one of the best matches of the first round.
Despite a valiant effort, the Ivory Coast were unable to achieve a result against Argentina nor the Netherlands.
Today's best match-up should be:
the U.S.A. v Italy

i just watched Brazil Vs Australia
They won 2:0 ...Ronaldo was good ...he made a great pass to Adriano , who very deftly netted the ball .Roberto was not doing good ...he made far too wide passes!!!
and it seems like the Samba Boys are not in their elements
ANyway i wish they better their performance soon ....

Well, it seems to me that Argentina has shown the greatest performance amongst all the teams in the world cup so far. Germany, England, Brazil, and especially France have shown very disappointing performances so far. A Brazilian girl told me Brazil is only warming up for the big events. Lol... I hope some new country wins the world cup.

well records show that the countries which take it easy in the beginning usually make it to the higher level and the countries which do better at the lower level fade out towards the end
I hope the samba boys prove the statistics right !
