Candle Night

Has anyone heard of this?
[link="http://www.candle-night.org/"]
It is a growing event started in Japan, and everybody in the world over can join just by turning off the lights and using candles for a few hours on summer solstice.
You can join one of the events posted on the website, or organize an event with your friends.
Imagine how much electricity will be saved if millions of people join this!
Enjoy having a nice meal, an acoustic concert, or anything else at summer night.

good idea !
it is something that the South Mumbai residents could definitely practice.
Some time back, the government had ordered to stop the supply of electricity to hoardings in the city , but somehow the rule has not been strictly enforced yet.
For the rest of the country candles are a necessity. a painful reality for some who dont even have access to electricity...
When i was in South India, ( Kerala) , there were times when we didnt get electricity for days especially in the rainy season. [ we have only two seasons in Kerala - rainy and summer ]
so candle light dinners were nothing exceptional.
The best part was that because of the hot weather everybody would be forced out of their homes and it was the best time for me and my cousins to be with our grandparents and listen to their storries...as then our parents couldnt ask us to study. it was our free time!!!
all the social activities were also planned during this free time ...
Cheers
Anu
