Destiny in life or why do we live for

I thought to post this some time ago but always forgot to do so...
Question is whether there is a destiny in life or why do we live for? Or othewise said, is there something called "faith"? And it doesnt mean that "faith" is something preordained; it rather means it can change, evolve, disappear and reappear, etc!
Let's see what do you think!

I think Destiney absolutely exists. I Think of it as the purpose of one's life. Its wats I meant to do, what i meant to be. However, it does not determine my life. I still have to make my own choices and decisions. I Have to Look For my place on this earth, for wat i was meant to be. In order to do so, ull have to have faith. Faith in someways is the knowledge that u are not created to do nothing. Its the conviction that there's a reason why one exists. The Belief that you r not a noone and that there's a purpose of ur life ur gonna have to find and finally fulfill.

I dont think there is a "destiny". The future we get is paid for somewhere in the past. Things just happen. Sometimes theres a reason and sometimes there isnt.

i tend to agree with you
point is that Destiny shouldnt mean a "predetermined path" or a "faith" but rather a direction i nlife to go. Now, its up to all and each of us to find one or to "invent" one!
In any case, as a proverb says "when there is no direction to go, all directions are good.."

Whats your religion?!
Or where that vision of "The future we get is paid for somewhere in the past" comes from?!
Just currious!
Anyhow, as i said above, i think desitny is rather a direction for usto go, not a final destination. Of course, direction is chosen having in mind where we want to be

[i]I believe that we create our own destiny in life. I feel that life is a series of choices and that we control every aspect of our life. Our feelings, actions and responses. We choose to let experiences shape our destiny. One may accept a negative experiece as just that which somebody else may make it a positive learning experience. Our destiny is nothing but a choice.

yeah , at anygiven point we have some choices to make , and it is we who have to be proactive and make a decision.
even a decision to not do anything is a decision !( sometimes a bad one)
i do believe that there is something called luck, ...i am reminded of these lines from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar ;
"There is a tide in the affairs of men / Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune."
But i feel that if i want my life to go the way i want it to , i have to take actions which can lead me to fulfil my goals...otherwise ten years down the line i will be straddled with a life which i might regret to go through everyday ...
means and circumstances do matter a lot , but there are many examples in the world today of people who dreamed big and were not deterred by the adverse conditions ....they went on to fulfill their dreams ...
there is actually no right time ....right time is the present ...

I too believe that our future is determined by our choices and those of others. By that I mean that other people (in the present or past) may have made choices that affect the alternatives we have to choose from, but at the end of the day, we decide what options to choose. I do not think our futures are predestined or preplanned. I think we have every responsibility to make the best choices for ourselves and others so that our life is meaningful and productive.

We are here because (contemporary interpretation):
1. God created humans and gave them the earth to live on and rejoice (religious point of view).
2. A very improbable coincidence of many factors including atmospheric conditions, availability of water, and placement of our planet allowed an emergence of life forms and their further evolution into a more higher forms (scientific point of view).
We are here to (contemporary interpretation):
1. Live our lifes in dignity with praise to and contention of God according to principles and values advocated by God (religious point of view).
2. Give ourselves goals and achieve them; raise children; get a good job; make a family; become somone like Michael Jackson or David Beckham etc!
Science, bein as biased as any such framework of rules, regulations and structures can be, has NEVER asked and COULDNT ask, notwithstanding to say to answer, the basic question of why do we live or is there any reason, any higher goal, any "faith" in our lifes!
So we have to give our lifes a meaning! Or rther find one!

Tthe best metaphor I've come across to define the experience of destiny and of faith, as well as their connection to one another that delivers a basis in reality, is the creation of a song, complete in the textures of dextirity that bring meaning, in the balance of melody and into the rhythms of harmonies.
They say that music can never be created, only re-arranged.
Likewise, here and now, is the moment where destiny lives in tune with the eternal movement through space, that we call time.
The improvisation whiin the currency of times is the perpetual adaptation into the jazzing up of history and faith in one's own personal experience of being in the organic spiritual unity of the whole.
Much of China's mystique that influences much of Asia's over all direction of decision making, comes from a deep and ongoing study of destiny and of where does history best get to harmonise along with one another.
If you are interested in a small practical example of what I mean to say, there is one of the serious globalizing efforts being made to usher a new paradigm of peace for humanity under the name Global Villages. At the same time, China is working to restrict free speech with yahoo and someone of the Global Villages wrote to suggest that we switch server. Here is, but a small example of trying to ride the waves of jazz I spoke about. The letter is at:
