Grades vs Points system

Hello everybody,
inside my youth NGO we are creating a Youth Statement related to the future of Higher Education Program in European Union.
Throughout our research we came up with a very interesting idea. Right now, we are trying to gather feedback on as many channels as possible before we will lobby it at the DG Education and Culture.
I have with TakingITGlobal the opportunity to share it with you and take it from Local to Global .
I am waiting your comments.
Regards,
Adrian

Grades vs Points system
During the last decades, the grades in the education system have increased, creating a grade inflation trend. This can inferre that the quality of students has improved. This might not be utterly true as the post-graduated standardized tests have maintained aprox the same average during the same period of time. We believe that this trend can have a negative effect on long term. The lack of an effective grading system provides the student the
lack of motivation and the teacher, the lack of tools to provide the needed motivation. As the collage classes face high absenteeism and a low level of student participation, the future of education is at risk.
Acknowledging all these risks, AEGEE purpose a new grading system, based on points. Each academic activity valued for the students' curricula: class attendance, papers, exams should be quantified in points, rather in marks.
All the points are cumulated, creating a score which evaluates the students'year based education activity per courses and per total.
The new Higher Education System entitled with an improved grade system will bring in the needed fresh vibe both for teacher, as facilitators of education, and students, as receptors of education.
