Ghost

Hi,
Once I have read a play named Ghost by Hinrrik Ibsen
the main idea or theme in the story is people past hunt their present because of what they inherit from their ancestors so what do you think? does our past inseparable of our present and may be our future too ?
dont you think that the new day ,is a new start, new present, isn't present an emancipation for the past?
btw..lovley play...

regards
the pearl

I think I get ur point tht wat we take from our parents can be considered as "past" however i have to kinda disagree with this description, because basic conecpts of behaviour, ways of communication, manners, tradition and culture, everything u learn or have to learn actually, is eternal. Its like the outline for one's life, the guidelines for one's behaviour throughout one's life.
And wen we talk about tht of course u'll have to consider that some of the traditions or concepts we inherit from out parents shud change according to rapid development of everything around us, excluding of course the basics formed by religion and general manners.

So ultimately, we take from the past, hold on to the suitable change the rest in the present and into the future.
Am I making any sense here?? LoL

I think ori is trying to say that sometimes what we inherit from our parents can keep us from living our new days and chances or it may hold us from doing sth we like just because its the traditions...and i think somehow in the arab world its right but nt all the time....

Well, One Of My Personal Beliefs Is: "New Day. New Beginning". I believe that if you're given one more day to live, you're given one more chance to change, to live a different life, to start a fresh new beginning.
Of Course, people's past is what shapes who they are today, but that doesnt mean that it determines what they become. Change is a Choice. And If someone wants to personally change, or change something, the past will not prevent him/her from doing so.
So, personally I think my answer to ur question whether the past is inseprable from the future is a No.

Cheers =)

hello girls I agree with you carrot by the way i like your nick name wink....and yes every tomorrow is a new beginning ....every one of us have his new chances in his life so he /she should know how to seize this chances not to see them running in front of his eyes and do nothing..IF God gave a person a new morning and chances no one will take it away or prevent someone from living it...

Now thats the kinda stuff to discourage people from making a change. Dwelling on the past, living in it or thinking that it hunts u is crap! You are a human being who is capable of making a choice & difference in your life.
That reminds me of Macbeth who believed in the prophcey of the 3 hags, it was his choice to believe apart from his nagging controlling wife!
Agree with carrots too wink
Hey Ori if u like Henrek Ibsen you should read " A Doll's House" its quite interesting smile

Interesting!
I believe that our future is a continuation of our present . there is no actual future! we are constantly stepping on it ...
as for the past ...i think our past makes us ! how can we be divorced from our past?
everthing that happens to us has the potential to change us or not but all the things that happen to us makes us the individulas that we are....no two people are the same anywhere !

hence our past is with us all the time !

about Macbeth
I have a different interpretation on what was said about Mrs Macbeth here!
Mrs Macbeth was hardly at fault. Macbeth did what he wanted to do !
it was purely his ambition ! he would have killed his king and others irrespective of whether or not he had heard the prophecy . the witches where more or less his excuse .
Banquo did not get effected by them . why?
because he was not harbouring any such kind of ambition in his mind!

nagging controlling ? when was she ever that ...she knew her husband's nature very well . if she had not supported him he would have gone ahead and done everything himself . so for her it was better to be with her husband and keep him away from danger!
But she couldnt fathom the depth of her husband's ambition and hence gets shocked at the brutal killings and more so because her husband forsakes her in his ambitious drive which breaks her heart ultimately.
