Do you have any fast food restaurants in your country? What kinds? What is your favorite type of food? What kind of snack foods do you like?

my favorite tupe of food is defenetly, home-made food! i do not like fast food, do not trust how clean and healthy it is, the last time i ate fast food i ended up having amoeba lurking in my insides :S

Fast Food in my country

It is very interesting theme! Thank you for your post.
There are many restaurants and cafes where I may come across fast food in my country. In cities the most popular restaurant of fast food is MD. The most popular fast food are hotdog and sandwich. Often we eat chebureks. It is a sort of meat pie very popular in the Caucasus and Crimea. I may buy cheburek on a street and enjoy its wonderful taste.

I also try to avoid fast food as much as possible. Not only does it tend not to be very healthy or delicious, I feel that fast food chains only add to the ever expanding homogeneity of our food culture by eliminating creativity and individually run smaller restaurants.
Semergey: Could you share the recipe for your chebureks? I'm always looking for new foods to try. Anyone else have good recipes to share as well? Thanks!

Anu-- what are golguppas? That is another food I've never heard of before. Are they easy to make?
I do wonder, if fast food restaurant chains (like McDonalds) sell different foods in different countries that might incorporate more local flavor.
I suppose in trying to find a positive side to fast food restaurants they do, at least in the US, employ a lot of people. Fast food employees tend to be youth or people who have not had the opportunities to attend college/university. These people would have a hard time finding employment elsewhere. Granted, they don't make a lot of money, not even really a living wage, at least they are employed. The whole debate about a living wage is one for another time

Golgappas / panipuries are a hot favorite of Indians .They are really yummy.
you can check out the recipe here ;
http://www.bawarchi.com/cookbook/fried3.html
here 's the definition on Wikipedia
I didtn know Wikipedia had soemthing on Golgappas too!!!!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Golgappa)
Pani puri, is a snack synonymous with the beaches of Mumbai. However, it is also very popular in all other parts known by many names like golgappa (plural golguppe) in North India, Foochka (Puchka) in West Bengal, Gupchup in some central parts of India like Hyderabad.
It is made from small, round, puffed, hard puris which form the 'container' or shell, and mashed potatoes and cooked chick-peas along with some finely cut onions, with salt and pepper added, and the chutneys are the stuffing. Normally, there are two chutneys, the hot and the sweet, each in a large round mud (or, nowadays, metal) vessel; although sometimes there is only one. The Chutneys are what is referred to by Pani, which means water in Hindi (the main ingredient of the Chutney), and they contain tamarind and fresh mint, as well as spices including cumin and black salt. The serving person will lightly crush open the puris on one side, put into it the stuffing, and then dunk it into both the chutneys and serve you the puri, which is now full. You have to put the entire puri into your mouth at one go and bite into it. This will release the barrage of different tastes into your mouth.
Typically, the panipuris are served in 5-8 quantities - constituting a plate. Some places offer them premade into a whole plate but the popular way is to get them one at a time from a seller/server. Everyone gets a small plate and stands around the servers cart. The server then starts making one panipuri at a time and gives it to each individual. The server has to remember everyone's preferences - one customer may want sweetened pani, another more of the filling, or more onions.
to be contd...

He also has to keep a count of how many panipuris each person has had. The servers are renowned for remembering your choices and numbers even when serving an entire crowd. After you have had your fill of panipuris, you normally finish off with a cup of the pani, sweetened or sour depending on your taste.
