I didnt read The Secrets Of The Davinci Code yet but if you did plz tell us about it...
and if you didnt read the novel yet...is it because you are against it..? or not a fan of reading such novels ?

I read the novel, and i personlly thought the novel was great, as anovel goes! I'm a christian, but i really didn't think that the book was "evil" or bad. It's a novel. It's a work of fiction!
i doubt the movie will be better, but I could be proven wrong. i haven't read The screts, but i may soon!

Verifiable facts versus unfounded speculation

The Da Vinci code the book I have not read ,no. I needed only consult a few scholarly reviews as well as get a gist of the plot from others who had read it to convince myself that, though an imaginative work of fiction, the book remains nothing more than that. The narrator skillfully interweaves a foundation of truth with many inaccuracies, that , for want of a rigorous knowledge of history on behalf of the reader amounts to a plausible sounding plot.

It's the controversies that led me to read this book.I thought this book was great. It was so interesting that u just keep reading till u find the answers.Apart from the controversies,it's the mystery that worked for me.As for the controversy that jesus was married,it will be forgotten.B'coz u hav another controversy coming up...The Gospel Of Judas. Before u actually think of something theres another one to think of.
As for the movie, i don't know.Already Tom Hanks has been criticized for his weird hairstyle.

The books awesome. Dan Brown truly is a master of literature. I am a christian as well but to me, it doesnt matter if Da Vinci Code is right or not, yes its a work of fiction but to me, I dont care if Jesus was married or not.
I dont think the movie would be able to top the book but I am pretty sure it will do well thanks to the controversy.

I personally do not consider this book an extraordinary piece of literature - I thought the plot and characters were weak and predictable. The only credit I give Dan Brown is his ability to weave detail so intricately that one is unable to differentiate fact from fiction - hence the controversy. In saying that, some say this isn't Brown's skill, it is his lack of research into the topic (namely symbolism and religious history). But that's for you to decide, I'm not expert on either of those things.
Nonetheless, I read the book for a leisurely read... for the same reasons I read books in the calibre of... The Babysitter's Club. Strong followings for certain crowds...

ok some consider it fiction...but what about the facts in the book..brown used a big scientific base in his story...whether it was religious or not...i actually can use his novel for tourism...hanks responeded that its a good movie...but as i am books lover i will say the novel is better even if i liked the movie....coz using words to describe the events is way more magical than hollywood's effects ......

in this book i saw the fiction on the sequence of events...i think it was bold ...and there is alot of fction and lucky moves....
the facts i am talking about ...the information which the created characters used in their search, the fact about the cup of jesus (pbuh) coz this is not the first time anyone use it in movies...yesterday i watched Indiana jons and the last crusad..it was about the cup of jesus too ...but the funny thing here was that harreson ford found it in petra/jordan ( in my country...lol) not in the louvre...., and what about the church and the vatican thing...
i think we should read the secrets of the davinci code

The Da Vinci Code

Hi.
Here are some opinions on the accuracy of information in the book:
Dan Brown (the author)
The Da Vinci Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. While the book's characters and their actions are obviously not real, the artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals depicted in this novel all exist (for example, Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, the Gnostic Gospels, Hieros Gamos, etc.). These real elements are interpreted and debated by fictional characters. While it is my belief that some of the theories discussed by these characters may have merit, each individual reader must explore these characters' viewpoints and come to his or her own interpretations.

Opus Dei (Catholic institution)
Those who do further research and exercise critical judgment will discover that assertions made in The Da Vinci Code about Jesus Christ, Mary Magdalene, and Church history lack support among reputable scholars... We also want to point out that The Da Vinci Code’s depiction of Opus Dei is inaccurate, both in the overall impression and in many details, and it would be irresponsible to form any opinion of Opus Dei based on The Da Vinci Code.

National Geographic Society (Scientific/education institution)
Most scholars interviewed in the documentary and elsewhere, however, say that Brown is relying on discredited sources and flimsy connections to make his bloodline theory.
Still, most experts concede that the Church suppressed some early Christian writings that may have differed from the version of events described in the Bible. They also contend that Mary Magdalene, while not married to Jesus Christ, was probably a lot closer to Jesus than most people imagine.

Nice story

I enjoyed a lot the DVC! When I was reading the Paris' descriptions I felt I was there one more time! (I was in Paris in 1996).
People always like to create controversy with artistic works (The Passion of the Christ, for example) But they forgot artistic works are not the reality or a "real" transcription of the reality like History's Books are.
Art is Fiction and the amazing of the fiction is we can create new imaginary worlds... so, read novels is a great entertainment and a good way to re-think our surrounding world and open our minds, but if you want to know the History, read History Books and not read Novels or watch movies to do that.
BTW, I can't wait for the DVC's Film! The actors are exaclty I imagined while I was reading the book.
