Keep the dream alive!
April 20, 2006 - 04:45 AM

Hello All,

My name is Pauline, and I wanted to tell you about this new initiative I'm trying to bring about- but I need help, and I figure there is no better place than TIG to network and get support. I am trying to start a new organization at my University (University of Toronto) and hopefully throughout other universities nation and world wide that deals with creating and implementing and promoting projects that deal with international development/poverty and also the Millennium Development Goals.

While doing this, the organization will also seek to promote and appreciate the cultures of the world, and educate the university community on world issues. This is a lofty dream, I know, but togehter we can achieve it. With all of the things achieved in this world, it is a shame that there are people out there who don't even have food to eat, or access to clean water. The MDG might be ambitious, but if we don't do anything and just sit around, then nothing willget accomplished! We as university students need to take action, and we have the tools and resources at our disposal to do so. We as students can make a huge difference! If you are a University student, and want to be involved in setting this organization up and making it a reality, then please contact me, join the group I made in TIG, it is called the Global University Partnership. Together, as students, we can form an organization that can change the world!

Hi Pauline,

This sounds great. Can you propose some ideas that we can begin to work with describing how you will go about creating the group and what it's main focus will be?

George

Hi Pauline,
Ypur idea is a great one. We can do this. We can put our ideas together and network through out the world.
I am a junior staff at the University of Zambia, (Africa), and I concur with you on the need to do something if we are gonna achieve the MDGs.
Our plight, I believe, is multifacetted. My heart also graetly goes to the young people in Israel and Palestine who are so confused by the elderly and the so called religious leaders indoctrinating most yopung people to kill other young people.
As I can see it we have a very big task ahead of us if we are gonna do this.
It is very possible if we put our heads together.

Hello All!

I sent you all a message indicating proposed ideas for the goals/structure of the organization. In case you didn't get it, I put a copy of it under the documents section of the GUPNetwork group site! Tell me what you think, this is completely preliminary and there is room for lots of improvement! These are just my suggestions! I am eager to hear your input! See ya guys!

When students decide act, things indeed happen.
There is enormous potential in the student that could be harnessed and chanelled into development.
I am looking at students taking practical measures to curb poverty and its painful consequences on the good people of the world.
Let us talk always and see what happens.
I am ready to help in that direction in Ghana here, mobilizing students to create change and to help achieve the MDGs.

Wow...this is a very noble idea. The MDG's are the best thought ideas of eliminating poverty and making life better for the underprivileged.
