One of my fave movies is Princess Mononoke or Mononoke Hime. It's a very epic animated film that explores the relationship b/w humans and nature.

Ayman, how strange to talk to you not about politics..
i completely agree with you about Kingdom of heaven, and Munich.
Moreover - I think that although Harry Potter is considered "childish" those are great books (and movies) with great message (we'll see it when JK Rowling finishes writing)..
About Lord of the Rings - I think it is sometimes overdramatical.

Movies w/ a message is interesting, sometimes they have too much meaning, and some I think are giving off the wrong ones. For me:
"Lord of War" - War is bad but inevitable
"I-Robot" - Wear Chucks, drive an Audi
"Mississipi Burning" - Rascism is disgusting
"Pollyanna" - The Glad Game does make you glad
"Indiana Jones Trilogy" - The girl always gets in the way
"Tora, Tora, Tora" - Complacency means you're going down.
"Equilibrium" - No emotion means you are the man killer...
And I can't think of anymore at the moment.

I noticed a lot of people said The Constant Gardener and I really have to agree, it moved me and kept me thinking for days afterwards.
A couple of other recent movies (I have to limit myself somehow!) that keep you thinking after the credits finish:
* Water (2006) - Deepa Metha's final film in the trilogy of Earth, Fire and Water. This film is set in 1938 in India, and details the treatment of widowed women (under Hindu law). It is a visually beautiful film, and also very powerful in its themes of social taboos.
* Candy (2006) - Neil Armfield directed this Australian film about the devasation of heroin addiction. It doesn't glorify drug use but shows a true account of its consequences.
Seriously, go find these films and watch them - I'd like to know what others thought of these films too if you've seen them!

Some of my favourites recently are:
Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices (about the negative effects Wal-mart has on communities)
The Corporation (discusses the modern corporation in terms of a human and the psychology behind them)
Suzuki Speaks: Sustainability (interconnectedness between everything, importance of living sustainably and acting now)
Crash (racism in modern America)
Thank You for Not Smoking (follows the life of a big tobacco company public relations rep.)
A Closer Walk (film about the HIV/AIDS pandemic)
Those are just some that I can think of right now.
Check them out!

I agree with Mr.Chung on CRASH: racism is still alive everywhere. Message of the movie: let's think about.
Born into Brothels is a documentary with beautiful music of John McDowell, available on CD, about what street children can accomplish with a little help from compassionate people. Good choice of Lamia(3).
Hotel Rwanda and The Constant Gardener give good examples of how we can try to make a difference through our inner force and determination.

The day after tomorrow
Ribbons of Blue: A st. Lucian movie. After watching it I met the girl starring in it and i wanted to just strangle her. She did sucha a good job that i couldn't separate her from her character.

I think "The Wall" would be in the first place... I don't know how many of you have seen it but it's a very deep and really nice movie ...
Snatch, Fight Club, Meet Joe Black, The Godfather (especially part I), Reconstruction, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (this is also kinda funny, but it has a nice message), and many others

Why? I'm not a politician and I do not study political science.
First, I study construction engineering and I work as a cartoonist too. By default, it should be strange that I talk in "politics" -in your own notion-. Consider also that the movies I referred to are exteremely "politcal" movies.
Second, the word "politics/policy" is derived from the Greek word "polis", which means "city". This term was synoymous to "city affairs". Using this -original notion-, anything you do in your daily "city life", can be included in the term "politics".
Hence, using both notions, yours and the original one, I am not sure about the adequacy of your claims.
