The way I see it, is this: film can aid in stimulating social change.
Charlie Chaplain actually helped people laugh during WWII, with the Great Dictator, and prior that, empathised with all those who suffered when immigrating to other countries (in this case, America).
Rabbit Proof Fence; The Defiant Ones; Rebel Without A Cause... Perhaps these examples weren't as influential as Chaplin's, but even changing one person's views, showing them the reality of black and white; of youth; of indigenous peoples' suffering; can work towards changing the world for the better.
That is why I have started Filmmakers Abroad, a collection of people who share and encourage other filmmakers, (and I should mention here, theatre lovers are welcome too, as I am a massive theatre buff) who aim to help the world's people through their art.
Please, if you're a filmmaker (theatre lover), join.

I think sounds like an inspired idea - I think it would require a website where people can post their work and someone to actively seek and collect people.

Filmmakers Abroad sounds really interesting - do you have a website or more info about it? The project I work on is all about using media for social change (including film). We're always looking for submissions & would love to collaborate!
