Oscar Discrimination ?

i was watching the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Award and suddenly i'm wondering, "why they have to separate those categories into best actor, best actress, best supporting actor,actress.. but they dont do it with the director.there's only one best director, not best female and male director.
so is Oscar.
i was surprised.why didnt i realise it before?
it's such a discrimination, isnt it? discriminate something for no reason.
men and women are different. but in this case they shouldn't be differentiated. i mean, in sport, men and women are separated and that's fine. they're physically different, the strength, endurance, organs-and that really matters in sport.
but not with acting.acting is equal for everyone.no matter you're men or women, acting is acting.just like education, employment, and other stuff.
then why they separate it?
if you have the answer, please tell me. cause for now, i don't think that's necessary.
peace

Because most movies have both male and female leads and suppoting catagories - but all movies only have 1 director.
It is not a matter of descrimination. Acting is the only catagory that SHOULD be split by gender - all other catagories like editing, score, special effects etc are not in any way gender specific.
also in the directoing catagory that just plain are not that many female directors - just the way it is.
There ARE many powerful female executives at the studios, but directing is just not something alot of women do - for whatever reason.
I went to NYU Film School - the first year the girls outnumbered guys significantly in the directing program - but by the time we graduated the situation had changed dramatically from a 60/40 split in favor of the girls to an 80/20 split in favor of the guys.
there was certainly not any sexism, the girls just drifted into other areas during the course of their education.

I agree with gender separation among actors/actresses simply because it's a different kind of job. It is not like being an architect for example, where you usually don't care if the drawings were made by a man or woman, as long as it's what you asked for. Movies are in a way like interacting with people, you can't deal with them without being aware of their gender; a male and female playing the same role in a movie are completely different, and cause very different emotions on viewers, according to their genders.
Directors, on the hand, play a role in the industry where their job is like an architect's, you can't tell from looking at the final work (the fil) if it was made by a man or a woman.
