Hello TIG!
I dont think the idea of making the Matrix is good.
Why? Because we need to ask ourselves why one makes a movie?! Movies have usually a message to deliver, a lesson to teach or simply are to entertain us!
Why one makes a sequel to any movie? Usually we need to distinguish two cases here: the commercial reasons and the necessity to consummate.
Commercial reasons are simply to "drag" a movie long as long as it is profitable. This works fine based on a success of the firt part of a movie, which opens the way for its sequels to have usually less, but still a significant commercial-wies success.. Typical example of this was exactly the Matrix, the first part of which introduced the notions and idea and gave the action a start, a fight for freedom. When Wachevski brothers wrote the script for sequel they knew that it will be succesful BUT before starting the marketing campaign for the sequel, the distributor and the directors cae to agreement to split the sequel into twopieces: The Matrix Reloaded and the Matrix Revolutions. Both of sequels have been succesful but none of that got the glory and succes of the first part which in itself was predictable. But the fact that certian episodes, especially inthe second Matrix can considered useless, obscene, or just wasting time on banal characters or issues shows that commercial reasoning has had its hand on it(some explain this away sayin it had to be split cause it was too long, but look at King-Kong for the couter-example)!
Second, the necessity which is the case of Lordof the Rings. Each book being made a movei had a continuation and had to be made a movie.
All this to say that Matrix, being one of my favorite movies, might be developed into some 4th part where as you Peter suggested further characters emerge and further plots are born I dont think its a good idea. The "glamour" and "idea" of the Matrix is well encompassed in these three parts and making a 4th part would be like squeezing an already dry lemon for more juice..
But again this is my personal opinion concerning this issue!

Hello Peter,
I am going to oppose you again in this Hope you dont mind some opposition!
You ideas concerning the developments seemd to me interesting but....
But I cannot seem to not be able to find/invent/create/concieve/imagine developments for virtually any great, not-so-great, average or even a wasted movie(this gradation is just give for an example here and is a matter of definition by itself, notwithstading to mention that it has a quite subjective bias).
I am thinking that the only difference is that in case of MAtrix 4 those developments, taken into consideration what happened in previous three matrixes, will appeal more to potential audience. That the only difference to my eyes.
Otherwise virtually any movie can be extended, re-invented and made sequel of, but we need to know when its better to stop and keep the relative wholeness of all thing untouched!
Cheers,
H.

Well if the fourth installment corrects the mistakes of the third Im all for it. In my humble opinion, the way the third instament ended was a disgrace.
My Summary. Part 1; Human race enslaved by computers who use us as batteries and make us believe we are alive in the Matrix, enters Neo, the ONE, who is to save human kind. Part 2 just a wetting of our appetites for a great conclusion in Part 3. Part 3 Neo the saviour makes a pact with the machines to still keep some humans as batteries, a new enemy conjured up in Part 2 ala Agent Smith is defeated and we are all supposed to be happy?
Forgive me folks just my opinion but we need a Matrix 4 to correct the injustice the script writers did to a potentially great series of movies by the lame and unsatisfying ending in Part 3.
NB: Forgive me for my passionate entry but I really enjoyed the First Matrix and really expected great things from the concluding parts.
