[Poll] Medical benefits of music?
January 13, 2006 - 02:02 AM

I am doing a exhibition on the medical benefits of music. I have been researching and i found a couple of things on the topic, Dr. Raymond Bahr stated that "Half an hour of music produces the same effect as ten milligrams of valium" I found that quite interesting. I also found a website that said they put calming music in the ICU and it reduced pain perception, altered blood pressure, respiration, nausea and vomiting, and an increase in relaxation and improved moods. I just would like to know how some other people feel about this topic, and it would be a great deal of help to me, if anyone knows any research i can get my hands on would be awesome.
Thanks alot!
Mandi

I am quite ignorant on that topic so I will not much comment on it but rather let you take a look at some links I found for you and will read myself. I wouldnt say they are exhaustive but at least they might serve you as starting point.

Hi guys. I think that music is a great invention of the people. It helps people to live their own life, to feel. But at the same time there are positive and negative features in it. Such music as hard-rock, death-metal is not very positive. It doesn’t bring any light to our life. But meditative music can heal person’s soul, can help him to realize how deep our world is, such music brings harmony to our life and we feel ourselves friendly with nature, animals and the whole world. It definitely can heal people.

I totally agree with you, it depends on the type of music, moment, and person.
