Animal Cruelty
January 5, 2006 - 10:44 AM

I need some advise ASAP. I have recently learned about these Safari Zoo's in China and India. There are 25 known zoo's in China that use innocent wild animals as prey within a pen setting and release another wild animal (the attacker) so on lookers can watch these creatures been killed-all in the name of entertainment-what is this world coming to! In addition, I learned from ZooWatch, that they also use the same prey repeatedly for more then one "show". So this poor creature is tortured to death...there is no known voice for these wild animals and this act is beyond cruel-you must question the the evolution of the human race if these types of barbarick acts are still happening around the world...we have to be the voice of the innocent so I want to start a petition and I want you to help me by signing it....we need to raise the bar, raise awareness and raise our level of connection with the enviornment-I need your help and ideas on how I can get this started and what kinds of tools would be the best way to get the imformation out there...maybe you have a connection somewhere or you can help me find out who the local groups are in China and India are who are trying to stop this....anything would be a great help....this is a serious matter and each day that passes we lose many innocent creatures to acts of complete cruelty for the sake of entertainment....I look forward to hearing from you...jax

hey people,

i thought of especially the first thing to do Jax is to raise the awareness and when lot of already-knowing voices would rise then the pressure will mount and either the government will stop the barbarities or environmental organizations would intervene..

now being usually a practic person i prefer to give directly some advise or at least some tip or idea. I suggest first of all make a program/presentation whatever u call it, something containing such critical ideas and figures such as humans and common chimpanzees sharing 98.4% of their DNA, and killing them makes us as much killers as killing humans.. and so on, meaning facts that disturb, facts that hurt, facts that are ard to accept but are nonetheless true!

i think i mentioned somewhere on one of these forums that there is this book of Jared Diamond called "Rise and Fall of third chimpanzee" being a human! And Mr. Diamond mentions that the main reason he wrote the book was to spread exactly the awareness about our animal origins and the situation of world habitat and animals and compare it to past and see how bad things are going now...

Get this book if you dont have it and read, could serve u as material for this project.

And yes, tell me if i can help in any way. I mean i can look at making some presentation of some critical data if you want!

let me know!

cheers,
Hayk

HI jax i am very great that there are some people who doesn't take the animal killing as just for enterainment, i don't think it's good sign for human being are we know that each n every thing in nature are connected to each other. So for the sake of us we should create animal awareness programme in our local sector so that other people who are working for animal also are atrracted and they can increase our voice by taking to the right place to the right time and save the world from this critical situation.

Hey Hayk-I want to first thank you for your ideas posted the other day and yes I will pick up that book ASAP! I also want to take you up on your offer of possibly doing some research on the safari zoo's which are located in China and India. There are approx 25 in China that are known. I will do some digging here in Toronto with some of the existing animal advocacy agencies. I went to a site called petitions.com and I plan to put a petition together so we can start sending it out but I also want to include statistics so people understand the full scope of this situation and others for that matter....

It would be so great if there was a way of creating or stimulating some pressure for existing organization who advocate for animal rights to form some global voice..I can't beleive this does not exist...maybe there is some hope that a website such as takingitglobal would be a great platform for addressing world issue with respects to animal rights and protection not to mention sharing resources and idea's....maybe that is what I am suppose to do.

Please let me know what you think and if you can help.

hey Jax!

I am even less aware of environmental organizations than you are. But you can yount on me tryng to see if ican find some info on these safari zoos inchina in india and elsewhere(?).

as i told you before i can look at giving you for example some critical facts to put into presentation.

by the way there is one thing seeming a bit doubtful about TIG: its that i noticed, being a TIG member since 25 of december of 2005, that some of crucial questions/posts on different issues are either getting not much attention or NO attention at all.. i dont know if its cause of the new years eve and all that or is it usually like this. so far i have the impression this is more of conglomerate of young people, some of whom try to do smth(mostly in small groups), but so far(i m probably wrong) i didnt see much of a unique community action on something or if there is its not too visible in posts on discussion boards. But sorry in advance for being quite ignorant as a fresher on TIG.

Yes anyway, I can help Jax! lets try to get some interesting facts together and get anyone who want involved! I have also no idea of all petition thing but could be cool to work on it and learn at the same timesmile And can be cool if we have a backing of TIG on that! but first things first, start a petition and prepare a content for campaign!

Cheers,
Hayk

Hey there-great news and thanks for your help...I am new at all of this, both the TIG discussion boards and the enviormental issues...however, something struck a cord with a news program on this particular issue about safari zoo's and it seemed like a big wake up call for me...all issues regarding animals both domestic and wild are of concern to me...I guess we have to start somewhere, right?

I know Jen and Mike personally from TIG-I agree with you-there seems to be some idea's getting a lot of attention and some getting none at all-I am curious now about that and will ask Jen if this is the intention or how one can increase awareness within the site itself on issues of concern to a broader range of TIG members.

She emailed me about the petition and they will support it no problem....I am going to write on up-I checked out the Save the blind Indus Dolphins on the discussion board and they had a petition so I can use that as a baseline-however I do need some stats....I also sent them a message-maybe there is some way of creating a unified website that host all the issues of animal advocacy all in one spot...I would love that myself...I really, really appreciate your support and help on this....from the heart. cheers and lets keep talking and searching for info for the petition.

cheers

I SUGGEST THAT TIG management ASSIGNS RESPONSIBLE PERSONS FOR EACH DISCUSSION BOARD(one for Education, one for Peace&Conflicts, etc.) if they havent done so already. These people would be responsible to answer any unanswered, uncommented or badly commented issues in their part of discussion board... In thi way someone will always check what is happening and whether every issues gets enough attention and correct(to an adequate level) answers.
Jax please tell them this cause I still havent figured out how can I post "Suggestions to improvements" or similar issues besides merely emailing or contacting them but rather in a way where everyone can see and comment on the initial "proposal" of improvements or changes. Could be nice to have for example a discussion board called "proposals for improvements of ste, its content etc."

Jax there is this site of www.tekdi.com by Parth. I got on that site yest and its marvelous, they have lot of things there including discussion boards about animals, nature, everything. They also have related news being posted and they are looking now to implement their own encyclopedia about whatever nature/animal related issues being addressed the most by members.

Check that site first.

I saw you checked on the site of posted by pilgrim13 if i m not wrong and thats good! Tekdi also has a petition related part, we need to see how that thing is! I didnt have much time yesterday to check that feat.

And lets give ourselves some deadlines, let me for exmaple come up with some critical facts about animals and humans till the beginnng of next week. Let me know your email and I will send you directly.

And everyone else is welcome to join efforts in this event, everyone who feels the same we feel about cruelties towards animals..

Cheers,
Hayk

Just a quick update to say there I have made contact with Tekdi.com and we have started a discussions about how to create a global platform to address strictly enviornment issues and to provide a global platform specifically for those interested in these issues.....I will keep those interested up to date and I would love to hear from anyone else who wants to get involved. Many thanks.

Re: Animal Cruelty

hey Jax!

let me think how can this issuebe promoted here... well i can send it to some of lists i am subscribed to, there is also one other recent "trend" currently getting more and more popular!

i dont know if you heart about pxel selling, namely the starter of that idea - www.milliondollarhomepage.com - who gave a great idea of putting links onto one site. So now lot of copycats, including free ones, where you dont have to pay to get pixels, are available such as

http://www.zerodollarhomepage.com/

and under a general link of

http://www.pixel-billboard.com/

where all ther links can be found. Life showed that lot of people were getting onto their sites redirected from most of this pixel sites. So maybe just a first approximation is to put a link on one or more of those pixel sites, or we can even buy some on the best pixel sites, they cost almost nothing. What do you think?

Other then that I think you can use me in a geographical sense of that word. I am studying in GENEVA where most of headquarters of international organizations are. So if we set up a meeting or something I can represent us here! But we need to decide which organizations to talk to first(Greenpeace,...). Letme know on that too!

Thirdly yes, as i said i will put together some info I will keep on adding on it all along, but I will give you some "first" version of it during weeend!

Cheers,
Hayk

Hey Hayk-so Parth has emailed me and yes it looks like their site is already set up as a platform....the issue is how to promote it....in Canada. There is no Canadian database set up..YET. I wonder if this would be something you can also do where you are-just thought. As soon as you have some facts/info send it to me...I am earger to get this petition up and out there.

I am also going to meet with the World Wildlife Fund here in Toronto, I am member-I want to see what idea's they have in helping raise awareness on a more global scene-the same goes with Greenpeace and an organization called Zoo Watch. I will try an set up meetings next week....thanks again for your help on this...oh yes I sent Jen an email about your suggestions. Thanks so much for your help, it really means a lot to me....cheers jax
