Poverty is worse than disease. It is the absence of basic things of life. Though we must realize that poverty has variants but the major things is the absence of basic things of life. For us to ban poverty, we must put all hands on deck. Governments must be prepared to do certain thins likee providing basic amenities like water, food, education and shelter for the ever growing race of human beings. the absence of these things, paticularly education, disempowers the larger populace and make the human race vulnerable to the vagaries of poverty.
This is why we encourage our government in Nigeria to boost education by leeting it have a larger share of the budget. This has been achieved as the government of Chief Obasanjo has raised the share of education section in 2006 budget.

Poverty is the state for the majority of the world’s people and nations. Why is this? Is it enough to blame poor people for their own predicament? Have they been lazy, made poor decisions, and been solely responsible for their plight? What about their government? Have they pursued policies that actually harm successful development? Such causes of poverty and inequality are no doubt real. But often less discussed are deeper and more global causes of poverty.
Behind the increasing interconnectedness promised by globalization, are global decisions, policies, and practices. These are typically influenced, driven, or formulated by the rich and powerful. These can be leaders of rich countries or other global actors such as multinational corporations, institutions, and influential people.
In the face of such enormous external influence, the governments of poor nations and their people are often powerless. As a result, in the global context, a few get wealthy while the majority struggle.

For the poverty problem,I agree with tiodo that the government should prepare for basic factors especially education for its people.
However, since the cause of poverty is that people dont have sufficient money for daily living which composes of basic needs as food, shelters and medical, they have to struggle their life to fulfill these things. This causes them miss educational chances. If you once visited up-countries in my country,Thailand, for instance, and interviewed them for reasons of living home on weekdays unlike ordinary children in cities, you would see that they did not stay home for reading cartoon books or lazy to school but they had to help their parents on working to earn their big money,100-200baht ($2-$5)per day,to survive in each day.
This why I mentioned only the education being focused on could not be helpful if their most important thing in each day has not yet been filled up.If their finacial status were better, of course, they would see education as importance.Thai Government has seen these points so why they are trying to get rid of poverty as first priority especially in up-countries by adding people more jobs as One Tumbol One Product whereas they supports education for all students by providing scholarships for great performance so that they and their children would have more chances for education without worrying about money.

i totally agree that goverment has enough rule to play atlest lower the level of this desaster called poverty.
like my country nigerial,it is when education is generialised so that both the poor and the rich will ve assess to it,by granting free education as other countries do.
