same-sex marriage and civil rights

Legislatively, the United States is quite conservative when it comes to issues of gay rights. In recent years their has been much talk of preserving the "sanctity of marriage" -- between a man and a woman -- and of ammending the constitution to hinder further states from allowing homosexual marriage. There are only 16 states that have banned sexual orientation discrimination in private sector employment. Especially when compared to some other countries, it seems that the U.S. is falling painfully short of "justice for all." i'd like to hear how people from other countries feel about this issue, I would really appreciate your responses.

I think the united states is being very unfair by not allowing gay marraige and not giving them the same rights as married couples! have they ever heard of the seperation of church and state! it makes me really angry when people think that gay people are wierd or satanic, it's just racism only in a different form!

The united states and canada have had many rebellions and protests in their quest for responsible governement. And now we believe that we have achieved one but have we really? i thought that we had fought for a governement free of prejuduce well thats not what we got!!!
arent people of homosexual orientation human ? dont they love too?
food for thought: Animals have had rights before homosexual persons have.
does this make sense???

Hey..
Like you stated on your comment on the issue of Gay and Lesbian Righths..
well coming from a country where christianity and a very strong cultural lawfull society, its really hard for people esspecially in most of the Pacific island countries to come out publicly and express themselves of whom their really personality is.
I guess more awareness and informations on human rights and life skills would really help people to better understand and act positivly towards everyone.
Please Pacific island people, put your inputs, Ideas and views on this.
Regards
Joel
