hello James,
well i totally agre on urgency and fatality of the issue y<ou have talked of! what we, simple young people, without much of political and economic influence(at least i am one like that), can do is to get around us some youth like us and organize some projects/programs to deal with similar issues. Truly said just yesterday I posted on "education" section a message abou it: I am trying to put together a project intended for a similar class of young people who lack information, means and ability to participate in a global advanced field of faculative learning such as exchange programs, traineeships, conferences, and seminars oprganized by different student associations! Thats all we can do for a moment!
Or if you make yourself somehow politically powerful by entering into World Economic Forum's recently (2004 if i m not mistaken) created Young Global Leader Forum, you will get the backing of Klaus Schwab at least and that means a lot!
Or you need to make yourself a career, become rich and then pull the strings whe you have means to do so!!
We can disucss that further if you want!!
Cheers,
Hayk

These are all very good veiws. I would like to add a couple of suggestions if I may.
In order to address the education needs of persons not able to afford.
There is an unlying problem.(Poverty)
First you have to address the issue on poverty.
To do this you can visit my site and Let your voice be heard.

While you are there have a look under campaigns, then education. There are quite of few programs you can participate in as a youth.
While surfing I found this affordable student exchange site were you can go to school aboard and earn credits. They have many different programs available.

Im working on a project my self all are welcome to contribute.
It is good to see our youth concerned.
You Our Children Are Our Future. If taught you will lead the way.
