As an observer on the margins of indolence, one humbly would like to say to anyone interested in listening, or even reading this message to the end, that successful reform; no matter how defined, can only happen when the social and economic changes correspond to the moral basis of any society. When that doesn't happen, any country which has to make cruel choices over what is its own authenticity, the outcome is usually policy failure accompanied by growth in extremist tendencies. Values and ethical conceptions of what is good and what is just, as well as obligations, are all embodied in social traditions and in communities. Therefore, there is no rationality independent of traditions, and no set of rules can ever commend themselves to all people, independent of their conception of what is good. Of course there are universal moral values, but to appeal to the virtues, to the social practices and traditions of societies, can more fruitful than, appealing only to the traditions of western enlightenment.
