Greetings!
I would like to introduce you to EarthCorps; a U.S.A. based non-profit organization that offers opportunities for youth to gain hands on training in the environment.
EarthCorps offers a 6-month training course in Seattle, Washington that brings together young representatives (18-25 years of age) of international organizations to learn the basic fundamentals of environmental restoration, community organizing, and hiking trail construction.
EarthCorps training is ideal for any individual interested in:
•Community empowerment
•Erosion control
•Reforestation
•Ecotourism development
•Youth outreach
EARTHCORPS CHARGES NO FEES for its services and in fact supplies insurance, individual homestays, gear, and a monthly stipend to all international participants. EarthCorps provides additional support in acquiring US J-1 Trainee visas by providing letters of recommendation on behalf of EarthCorps program participants.
With this preliminary success in its international focus EarthCorps is looking to expand its reach to other countries and organizations. EarthCorps needs your help to locate organizations in your country that have a need to develop the skill base among their local staff and volunteers.
Already EarthCorps alumnae have returned to their countries and are working on local environmental projects while incorporating their skills that they learned here at EarthCorps (http://www.earthcorps.org/international.php).
