Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, has been called Terrorist.
I am from a tamil family. I was born in sri lanka, but was raised in canada. for real sri lanka is a wonderful place, the only thing wrong about it is the war. when i was brought up, i was taught alot about the war. Why it was taking place, where. everything about it. sometimes i think about it and see how dumb it is. but as i grew up i realized the real reason. the tamils want a part and say in the government. the sri lankan government which is runned mostly by singalese has few tamil mps. why is this a problem. simple. we do not have a say in it. Now as i have found out a lot of world wide countries are coming together to resolve this problem. they are willing to find a solution. (real thankful) there is a meeting that will be held where nearly 35 forgien countries will take part in except USA. They said that they declared that Liberation tigers of tamil eelam (LTTE) is a terrorist organization. They say, "LTTE to make a public declaration renouncing their armed struggle for a separate state and accept to settle the conflict". We are fighting for our independance and it's known as terrorism. (I agree that war should be stopped WORLD WIDE in a peace ful way, shouldn't go only for us.) does this make any sense to you though? before i continue the rest and give the rest of the story, i want you to so far tell me what you think about it. if you do not know a lot about LTTE i have given some backround on a thread called "Sri Lanka need your attention too!!!!!!!" http://www.takingitglobal.org/discuss/showthread.php?threadid=375#post4807

First of all I completely agree that Sri Lanka deserves our attention as well. Seriously, in the scale of complexities, this might be one of the most solvable conflicts in the world. I don't mean that disrespectfully to the families of the people that have died or anything, I just mean that saying that it's a civil war. Not international. There are not the complexities that come from international conflicts.
We just need to make Sri Lanka the center of the world's attention for basically a couple months, get a peace treaty and a plan of action in place, and then things can really start to move forward, and not move backwards as you guys have stated it has been for the past ten years.
This is a war that's lasted way too long. And Sri Lanka is such a beautiful place, I had the honour to visit it at the Millenium. Wow!
