This is the name of a Native Reserve located in North-west Ontario in the James Bay region. Now, it's not notable for its location but for a situation that has recently reached crisis point.

The situation is this: This reserve has been under a boil-water advisory for the last 8 years. Approximately 1000 of its 1900 residents are suffering, or have suffered from water-born diseases including: lice, skin rashes and in some cases the onset of Hepatitis A. The schools have also been closed for 2 years because of the lack of a boiler. Two weeks ago, a deadly strain of the E-Coli bacteria was found in the water, causing the Provincial Government to just on Tuesday order the airlift of these people off the reserve.

To make this even sadder still, a situation such as this (the boil water advisory) exists on at least 140 reserves across the country, with 60 of these in Ontario (including 6 Nations at Brantford).

Is not the right to clean water a basic human right? If it's not, then shouldn't it be made such?

The First Nations Peoples come under the constitution as being the responsibility of the Federal Government (Paul Martin and his cronies), and that government has failed in its responsibility to provide for their basic needs.

Not bad for a country that supposedly is the flag-bearer for Human rights...

Just thought I would let you guys in on what's been happening in Canada in terms of Human Rights.
