i think ayn rand is pretty evil, as is objectivism in general. i don't think that we need to build community, not egoism. we need to find ways to protect our earths resources. at the beginning of the fountain head she has this antidote where man looks out over the natural landscapes, and imagines ways that he can exploit the trees, earth, mountains and rivers, commodifying everything in site. this attitude is disgusting to me. while i agree with personal liberty, i think that it shouldn't infringe on the rights and wealth of future generations.
two thumbs down!

I read a reader assembled by Leonard Peikoff (her disciple ). She's good at writing fiction, but her philosophy is quite dodgy (and not as original as she'd have you think)
Humans are social animals - and I don't think any kind of conditioning can really change that, and I especially don't think it's desireable.
She's not as horrible as you'd think though - because she's inconsistent here and there
