Saudi Arabian Government's decision to demolish the Prophet's home
September 4, 2005 - 02:05 AM

My Dear Muslim Friends,

I want to know what you think of the Saudi Arabian Government's decision to demolish the Prophet's home and build a parking lot and some high value appartment buildings.

According to a Toronto Star article, written by Tarek Fatah, a founding member of the Muslim Canadian Council, the house is being destroyed to make way for “a parking lot, two 50-storey hotel towers and seven 35-storey apartment blocks” as part of the Jabal Omar Scheme, just around the corner from the Grand Mosque.

There were riots and even killings in Muslim countries when the Koran was allegedly desecrated by American soldiers in Guantanomo Bay.

Why is the Islamic World silent on this? Saudi Arabia claims to be the guardian of the holy places of Islam and profits hugely from the centuries-old traffic of believers to Makkah and Madina. Isn't there any anger when they choose to perform an act as shameful as this?

As mr. farook has mentioned, the Saudi clerics perceive Muhammad's house as some rocks, not more...they have their own rationale...which I oppose, since the demolition of the house is not for the sake of the expansion of the mosque of Medina...

That's not fair!
September 4, 2005 - 06:30 AM

That's sad!

If the same was done by any foreign govt. say Israel, they would declare Jihad and crash planes into that country.

To quote Irfan Hussain:
"Alas, these double standards are what now define the ummah. We have become completely neutered when it comes to criticizing other Muslims. I have often received e-mails from readers, accusing me of washing our dirty linen in public when I have written of the many problems afflicting the Islamic world. But these things need to be said out loud and often."

Dear All,
Basiclly this information about our prophet home in KSA..was half damaged before...it was alibrary...mmm about now the hotels, and projects..its ok
I will tell you whts up>in KSA they have some issues which will let him to do this at our prophet home from the friends of our prophet OMAR BIN ALKHATAB one time he cut the tree of ALAQABA deal...so they said omar did this before..its ok...but there is too many stories completed as we have the living house for prophet mohammad in almadina..where he live most the time.
Now in my opinion at manner we must reserve our prophet home and all things..coz it is related to our prophet mohammad...in KSA they saw it as rocks no more.
Just am ready to answer for any question
TThx alot
Peace

Alligator,

Why are there such double standards in the Muslim world? Imagine if the American Government was doing this, or Israel?

Doesn't the lack of public protests alarm you?

Ajay...Simply as u saw u will find some people disagree with this and the other not simply coz some of them might think that the house of Mohamded (SAW) it just rocks, just a historical sence, part of the KSA Islam Mouments and the gov. of KSA didn't offically said that they will even touch this place, all of this happen cause they renovate the roades as they make a new road networks so they demolish some old monemts like a train bridge and maybe thats why pople thought they gonna demolish Mohammed's (SAW) home. Anyhow this place not a thing we worship and if anybody went to KSA never see this place as its not in the list for the pilgrimage..we don't worship this place but its just a moument like the rest of any mouments in KSA.Ofcourse if they demolish it "wich will not happen" we will lose somthing of the memory of our beloved Mohammed (SAW) but we will not lose a single thing from our rituals!!
What about American Government or Israel ???!!! "nothing have to do with those 2 countries with this current issue" why they would do such a thing? and what will make them even enter Mecca or el madina, we are not having a religouse war ..are we?! so i can't imagine such a thing! and this part of ur question not realed to this particular issue the news was about KSA and the gov. and the locals and how they deal with the monments of KSA like how Egypt deal with its monments!!

I am just saying that if Israel or any other non-Muslim country decided to demolish a house where the Holy Prophet lived, then there would be mass protests and even riots in the Islamic world.

In 1992, a disused mosque was demolished in India and the entire Islamic world condemned India. No one prayed in that mosque for over 100 years and it lay in utter ruin, but still there were riots in many Muslim countries and India was condemned.

Isn't this clearly a case of double standards?

Wow, that is something.

People in Saudi Arabia at least must know what is happening - why are there no protests.

Is the media in the Middle Eastt hat tightly controlled that news is not even getting out?
