Does anyone knows the origin of the word and the history of diversity? Who invented this word? Is this a latin word?

Peace,
Shirls~

Origin of the word 'diversity'

I was getting the meaning of the word by simply dividing the syllables of the word. Di means two..verse is the statements /verse..thus an existential condition with two or more verses/versions reflects diversity.

Di+verse= two verses/ multiple verses/versions

I think this should be enough . May be there are more explainations.
