Night light
June 19, 2005 - 10:25 AM

The nightlight effect is forcing observers to move higher up the mountains that they are already on.

Astronomers are already on mountains because the atmosphere is thinner. but these days, they are being forced even higher because of the nightlilght effect. for those who dont know, nightlight is the distant luminecense of cities that can be seem from extreme distances. at night, you can see the light from cities when you can't even see the city itself. this can be reduced by shutting off billboards at a certain time, pulling blinds down over windows at night, new street lights ect. everybody can help reduce the nightlight effect. what do you think? should we try to eliminate as much nightlight as possible?
what are your ideas/thoughts about the nightlight effect?

Did you know that the lights from our streetlamps, flashy spotlights, homes, etc can be seen from Mars?

Now you know how bad it is.

i belive that if we could to switch to a blue or reddish light as opposed to white or yellow light we could minimize the nightlight effect. what do you think?
