Eating Disorders

Hello
I opened this discussion to get some opinions on Eating disorders. I have suffered from Anorexia and it's a dangerous road. Women more commonly become anorexic or belemic because we are judged! Everyone is judged. We are beatiful as we are not as what others hope for us to be. If you have any stories or opinions on Women and the fight against eating disorders post!

Yea...it's not only anorexia or other eating disorders that one should worry about. There are also the pressure of having sex, doing drugs, buying expensive stuff liks expensive cars and stuff liek that for ppl to view us as kool. Only thing I want to tell the youth is, follow your heart and be yourself. You do not have to meet up to someones criteria of what 'cute' or 'hot' 'or 'kool' is. You make the statemnet for urself. Let then know u can be curvy and is hot. Or can have ur own fashion and is kool. Then it isn't about all these materialistic things. It's ones personality and charater that should show who u r. And that is what ppl should see and know. Your race, culture, height, and all that is what u were born with. It is ur soul which is who u really are. And ppl should be friends and attracted to ur soul. Not hwo u look or what u have. Take care

Why is it that we starve ourselves for other people why does it matter what we look like? These are questions we ask ourselves everyday. Do you think that if you are Anorexic that your doctor will tell you and would you tell them? answer please!

Men Suffer too

all right. its me again to fight for the man's side. women always have stories about how they are pressured to do things. i feel bad that you had anorexia, i had depression. but honestly. women cant always be the victims. men have lots of problems wiht self image too. every man is expected to be well dressed and ripped to the max. men feel sub-standar if they arn't rippling with muscles. there are huge increases in anabloic steriod use in male teens. i feel for people with image problems but its not just the females out there

Everywhere you look there are standards created, and they're always going to make someone feel inadequate. What teens need to understand is that this is just a marketing scheme, and that the images protrayed in the media aren't what everyone wants or what everyone should want to be. I wish that more teens realized that the most beautiful thing of all is not a small waist, or ripling muscles - it's who you are. While there are things that could be done to change the images in the media, the reality of it is that in a capitalist society it's always going to exist, so if you can't eliminate it, you have to learn not to be sucked in by it. Be confident about who you are, and don't let anyone tell you what is or isn't beautiful - choose for yourself.
That being said, I know it's not just that easy for some people...but it's worth thinking about.

U know, u dont have to watch what u eat just to please someone or a group of people.I think that everybody, man or woman needs to eat well 2 b healthy. we all know those things we are supposed to eat and those we shouldn't eat. Let us all try 2 eat well, be healty n beautiful 4 ourselves and our spouses.

well, it's only shame this things happen, but they do ... that's because ppl (women and men) feel to much presure. there are certain "startands" which have been made, like: u have to be really skinny and look beautiful, be dressed like the fashion says ... but if u decide to look like others it's all your decision. if there are ppl who only judge u by how u look and they won't let you near them, then it's their problem and they r not worth u then. if u don't like things fashion says it's "the hit", then don't wear it, or don't listen to it. u should wear, look, eat, do what u really like and u feel the best in.
i had 2nd thoughts about looking good and everything, but then i decided it's the best 4 me to look like i want, to eat what i like, and not starve ... and everybody excepted me the way i am. u probably do know it, but it's not important how u look, but what is inside u! what u think and what u do! that's what's important! it sounds funny, but it is. ok, u will say it does matter how u look- it does, but that doesn't mean u have to go into extremes, it means u look healthy and that u dress and act normally (i mean - u wouldn't go around in bathsuit in the middle of the winter when it's 40 below ... if u know what i mean ...). just be yourself!
