Volunteer with KidsWorldwide - Cheap!

KIDS Worldwide is a non-profit and non-religious web organization that hooks up volunteers with organizations that are helping kids. They can connect you with projects in Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, Jamacia, Peru, Brazil, Moldova, and the Philippines. There are orphanages, children's homes, schools, cultural/after school programs, and rural health clinics.
Volunteers pay U.S. $350 the first month and $100 for extra months stayed (if you stay for longer than 5 months, you don't pay more than the 5 month fee). This money goes towards the project as well as your accomodation and sometimes food, depending on the particular project. I don't know of any other projects/organizations that cost the volunteer so little - a donation and money for your home and food.
NO application fee is taken - the organization trusts applicants rather than takes their money for applying.
Something that I think is really important about KIDS Worldwie is that new applicants are invited to join a yahoo group filled with past and future volunteers of its projects. The fact that the organization will hook you up with past volunteers shows that it has nothing to hide and will do what it can to help you better prepare for your journey. There are no unexpected costs or surprises - you can find out for yourself!
Check out the KIDS Worldwide website to look more into the organization and the specific projects:

I have taught at Ejura Primary School twice now: for a total of 6 months.. LOVE it.
I am sceptical of these types of organizations, but it is my opinion that KIDS Worldwide is legitimate. They do not take any money from you.
