Who wrote the bible?
When was the bible written?
Who is God?

For a firm and strict beleiver, these questions are easy. The bible was written by people who were inspired by God. God is the creator of heaven and earth and the master of all and sundry?

Where does one get all these answers?

These answers are all readily available from one authoritative book, The Bible.

Then, who wrote it and when and who is God? This type of debate goes round and round.

All ye beleivers and none beleivers, give me a piece of your mind on this sensitive issue.

Just to make one point - at no point does the Bible give the answer as to who wrote it - you're right, if it was the only source it would be the paradox you describe of being on a endless loop.

We know from the bible the names of the men who wrote it e.g - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote the Gospels - but thats pretty much the sum of who they are - occasionally someone says they are a follower of Christ (well duh! you're writting a book about him!!!!) but most of what we know comes from other sources - or the traditions of the church which can be traced back to the time these people lived.

The Quran was written 600 years after the bible - it's hardly a reliable source for that period of history.

1st, Quran is not written it's revieled from Allah the creator to his last messenger ,2nd :the origenal bible also revieled to messenger Jesus from Allah too , and the recent bible has been changed by many priests .
3d: since messenger Noah , Abraham ,many others , Moses , Jesus and lastly Mohammad (peace be upon all of them) , Allah sent many msgs changed by ppl but the last msg the Quran Allah promised to keep it safe from changeing till the last day ( this is absulutly true coz it's the same since 1400 yrs and it's the same Quran any where in the world ,now or before ) so, it contains the truth of every thing , before , now and forever .

This qoute from the " IS THE BIBLE GODS WORD? " book
Dr. W . Graham Scroggie of the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago , one of the most pretigious Christian Evangelical Mission in the world , answering the qustion - " is the Bible the word of god ?" ( also the title of his book ) under the heading : IT IS HUMEN , YET DIVINE . He says on page 17 :
" yes , teh Bible is human , though some , out of a zeal which is not according to knowledge have denied this . Those books have passed through the minds of men, are written in the language of men , were penned by the hands of men , and bear in their styel the characteristics of men "
Another erudite Christian scholar , Kenneth Cragg , the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem , says on page 277 of his book ," The Call of the Minaret".
" Not so the new Testment ....There is condensation and editing there is choice , reproduction and witness. The Gospels have come though the mind of the Church behind the authors .
They represent experience and history.
if words have any meaning , do we need to add another word of comment to prove our case? No ,But the profissional propagandists , after letting the cat out of the bag, still have the face to try to make their readers beleive that they beyond the shadow of any doubt that the Bible is the irrefragable , and playing with words -- is amazing !
Both these Doctors of religion are telling us in the clearest language humanly possible that the Bible is the handiwork of man, all the while pretending that they are proving to the contrary. An old Arab saying goes :" IF SUCH ARE THE PRIESTS GOD BLESS THE CONGREGATION "

One writter has put him in a list - i wouldn't put too much emphasis on lists of '100 greatest people'
One of our Prime Ministers, a lady called Thatcher was included in a list of 100 greatest Brits, she was also included in the list of 100 worst Brits.
The fact one author decides to mention him in a book isn't holding much sway with me.

I also find it hard to believe that in a list of influential people that Jesus Christ didn't make it in.

As for muhammad performing miricles - if he did then i retract what i said on that score - it was my understanding and information that there were no miricles recorded to be performed by him.

I understood all of your message - however i've bought up the points that i can debate credibly.

As i've said before - the bible, the actual text was written by men, but it was inspired by God.
The Gospels and letters that were included in the New Testement were selected by the Council of Carthage - inspired by God to decide what should be included.

Yeah, sure - you believe that if you want to.

No - The Bible, i'm guessing you mean the New Testement was not 'reveled' to Jesus. He took no physical part in writting it. The NT is composed of the accounts of Christ's life, the letters from his followers to others teaching about him and then it includes Christ's revelation about the Apocalypse to John.
These people were inspired to write by God to give the account of his Son.

You want to cling to a belief that Muhammad is a true prophet fine- but have a look at the Qu'ran's own interpretation of the two characters.

Jesus - Born of a Virgin, performs miricles, is assumed into heaven and will come at the end of time to judge.

Muhammad - Born normally, no miricles recorded to be done, dies normally

It seems obvious that the greater of these two is Jesus.

Truely Bible was written by men and inspired by God but most of the things in Quran was copy fron Bible and have little or no history of prophet of God before Muhammed.

[QUOTE]
I also find it hard to believe that in a list of influential people that Jesus Christ didn't make it .

when i said ( he choose prophet Mohammed to be this person)
i meant that he's the first person in the list of 100 influential persons, even jesues included, but not the first

Quote from the book:
" 1 Mohammed "
"My choice of Mohammed to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and maybe qustioned by others , but he was the only man in history who was supremely succesful on both the religious and secular levels ".
" Of humble origins , Mohammed founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader . Today ,thirteen centuries after his death , his influence is still powerful and pervasive."
" The majority of the persons in this book had the advantage of being born and raised in centers of civilization, highly cultured or politicaly pivotal nations .Mohammad , however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Macca , in southern Arabia , at that time a backwared area of the world , far from the centers of trade and learning .Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest surroundings . Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterat."
isnt it a merical?? by the way it is the first and there r alot , i'll complete soon,
and the most important thing that all this Quotetion has mintioned fairly in a book of a fair Christian Aouther, still this is only the interduction of the book

The book by Hart is just a view of who Hart thinks is influential. The mode that Hart used to collect his data is utterly subjective an can never be taken as the whole truth and nothing but the truth. However, religious issues are sensitive to argue about and they become worse when people personalize the arguments. It will be of greater help if we used facts to lay our opinions.

When it comes to religion, i believe in the bible, and the quran because they are both from Allah. i just can't figure out why there are so many different types of christians, jews, catholics, apostolics, evangelicans, etc. If christains are supposed to be following the same messenger, then how come there are so many different types of christians, who don't always share the same believe?

In good old days of Islam.. there were so called "khajirites", which were very influential at their time. Sadly they had one problem.. They were much more pious than Shiites or Sunnites. In such conditions it was hard to find an ADEQAUTE leader to satisfy harsh conditions. So there were repeated schisms among them, which lead to separations and weakening of their group. Each of these group had their "adequate" selection for a leader. So they went apart and so on..

It is radicalisation of an idea that causes SEPARATION. Buddhism (which is kinda calm religion) has not got so many schisms in their history as Islam and Xtianity. These two have gone into extremes quite often - result is known - so many diff groups among the two.

If u want to keep community together you must keep it calm and more or less satisfied with the situation.
