I’d like to introduce myself and briefly tell you about my activities, and how my activities can solve some problems according to 8 Millennium Development Goals.
My name is Lesya Starunchak. I’m 5th year study of Lviv National University (Geography Faculty). My specialty is Environmental Management / Management of Nature protected activities.
Also I’m a project and program manager of ecological NGO “Regional Agency for Sustainable Development” / Carpathians School, Lviv, Ukraine. My NGO works a lot of with nature-protected objects (national parks, biosphere reserves, regional landscape parks). In particular, the nature-protected objects we consider as a models for environmental protection activities and for sustainable development on the local and regional levels.
As we know one of the main Millennium Goals is environmental protection. For realization of this goal is very important to increase the public ecological consciousness and to promote ecological information, active public participation in decision making in the environmental protection sphere.
We work on local communities development, especially with that communities, which are live on the nature protected areas.
Mostly we work on the following directions:
- Promotion of the sustainable development (green tourism, recreation, forest-, water-, land-sustainability)
- Ecological education (for pupils, students, youth, local public)
- Development and realization of internal (regional, local) and international projects / nature protection activities
- Organization of internationals ecological seminars, conferences, workshops for experience and ideas exchange
- Development of international cooperation between ecoNGO on the environmental protection sphere.
As for me, I’m deep interesting to hear about experience of other NGO representatives from different countries how they work on the solving Millennium Goals.
