In our world today:
• 1.2 billion people live on less than $1 per day.
• 800 million people go to bed hungry every day.
• 28,000 children die from poverty-related causes everyday.
What is needed to achieve?
Millennium Development Goals are an agreement between the rich and poor countries, each having their own role to play, to make the world a fairer place to live.
It is the primary responsibility of poor countries to achieve the first seven Goals covering:
Poverty,
Hunger,
Education,
Health,
Environment
Women’s rights.
Poor countries can not achieve their first 7 Goals unless rich countries fulfill their responsibilities outlined in Goal 8. The developed countries need to give more and make sure that what they give is used more effectively.
Every day we don’t act, real people suffer and if the Goals are not met, all of us will be poorer and less secure, so we need to act now!
