Education-The main key

The key to fighting poverty is self empowerment of the person. We can only attaining this by gaining sufficient education to give you bargaining power in this world.
It is a high time that we enlightened our brothers and sisters from the villages on the importance of education as a strong weapon which may be used to fight poverty.

Education and Poverty

You sound very motivated.... in your first comments.... I agree that we do need to be more concious and teach people about the world around them for them to find ways not to suffer in poverty. The worst is intelectual poverty and we must prevent that especially during the time of disease and illness (AIDS). Second since we do live with capitalism at this particular time and space we should people to see how capitalism can be used as a tool to get one out of poverty but also teach people not to use others so that the others don't keep staying in poverty. I have a few recomendated readings that my professor gave me to read about education and the rural country side. the setting takes place in Thailand but the bureaucracy is everywhere because once the wide eyed student who wants to change lives through teaching enters the state system... they stop caring because of its officials and coruption. The Two books are Teachers of MAD DOG SWAMP and Teacher Marisa.

You seem to have interesting books to read. I have tried to find them from the bookshops that we have around in vain and i would really love to go through them.

Please give me info on where and how i can get such wonderful material.
