Think about it...

I don't know about all you people, but i for one debise animals beinging cagged and hunted down. I mean who wants to be cagged in a zoo to let people view them like savages. It's too pitful, and we can always eat more alternatives such as tofu or artifical meat instead of real meat.
Animals have minds of there own, their not much different from humans. When we eat a animal it's the same as eating a human being. It is just madness.

I get the point about trapping and keeping animals in zoos - it is indeed cruel.
But on the other hand many species are suffering from seriously reduced numbers that are threatening their survival - zoos and other places like reserves can help to try and save the species - ultimatly to reintroduce them to the wild where they belong.
Yes - before anyone makes the point that it's because of humans they are facing extinction - we do need to protect our wildlife and since it is mankind's fault we are the ones who should attempt to put it right.
As for not eating animals - thats a different issue.
You say that animals are not much different from humans - i'd argue it the other way - we are not that far from animals -and in nature one animal eats others to stay alive - it just happens that we are on the top of that pyramid.
Personally i think it must be because we taste bad.

um hello henry, zoos are friggin awseome. Don't you think that an animal would be much better off living in an environment where they have plenty to eat and live in a mini paradise? I would trade places with a panda bear at the zoo any day. Its not like theyr'e in the circus or something. And really, henry, don't have harsh feelings towards hippies.

Why are people picking on henry? i don't think it's appropriate to call him names because he despises the notion of eating animals. I mean really how many of us meat-eaters would go out and kill your own animal to eat? When you really think about it, it is pretty weird that humans eat so much meat... I believe the only way most of us can feel comfortable eating meat is because we are so distanced from the killing process.

Animals In the Zoo , should they be keept their ?

Well I have read only a few posts but here is still what I think,
It was proven that Animals that are kept in zoos can live way longer than when they are left in their wild environment, also keeping animals in the Zoo provide the medial support that may be needed for animals which definitely wouldn't be in the wild ,keeping animals in Zoo also can help in increase the number of endangered species as for the case of the Panda for example , if it was left only in the wild it may have been extinct by now

People do go out and kill their own food-deer hunters, pig hunters in NZ...but they are pests in NZ, they are part of the reason our native flora and fauna is so endangered. Also wild goats and cats are pests, they get hunted too but not so much the cats lol, coz cats live in urban areas most of the time. Ditto possums but you can't eat those because of TB. I'm not against killing animals if they're pests/introduced. But hunting and killing for trophies unless they're killing pest animals (like how people go kill deer in NZ, for trophies but it is also doing a lot of good because deer are introduced and pests) isn't good. I'm against caging animals for the sake of it, but when there is a really good reason I don't mind so much.

Also the NZ economy depends a lot on exporting meat etc, so I guess if we want to stop people eating meat we'll collapse the economy...that's kinda why it's not that viable to just give it up.
I wish humans hadn't done what they have done. We have a lot to answer for. Although we shouldn't blame people for the sins of their ancestors, they should still help everyone else try and clean up.
