I,personally have an annoying parents who keeps telling me to eat healthy food. But deep down inside,I know they're right.
"Healthy food are good for your body"that's what my parents always say. That's true, acturally.
Junk food on the other hand, have wastes and are not good for your body.
pay attention, please suggest how food companys could make this idea true.

you know wouldn't it be easier if you knew what you should be eating and what you shouldn't and how much you should eat. It would be easier if there was a national way of knowing- like let's say in the form of calories.
what could happen is that the government should ask an independant company to do analysis of what things are in foods. this should be compulsory to all food products and the company will have to pay only a small amount for it to be done. all food labels should be converted in to calories and also there should be a reminder of what the daily intake should be. That way it would be easier for people to see how much food they are allowed to have.
for food such as bananas there should be an average amount of calories it contains written somewhere close by. as well as that there should be a lot more advertising of what the the calorie daily intake allows a person to have. schools should also encourage it, plus we should reward people when they have something healthy.
in that way there isn't really an excuse as to why people aren't eating healthy.

nick20, a bit drastic of a view there mate. fruit and vegetables, organic foods are becoming more readily available - a little bit more expensive but worth it due to pesticides. with meat (fish or red meat) you take a gamble with what the farmers have been doing with it. the RSPCA label animal products to signify the health and treatment of animals - it is safe to say that meat with those labels are safe from many products and processed foods - well avoid all of them it isnt that hard. just have some self discipline when it comes to eating - eat what you like in moderation of course, snack on grapes or an apple instead of a packet of chips and make sure there is a variety between fruits, vegies and meat - it isnt that hard.

It's just like video game ratings, nobody(fat or not)cares about the suggestions which the company offer. It's a waste of money and time.
We never would know what to eat or how much we should eat cause we aren't doctors and nobody is concerned!
When it comes to junk food, most of the time we never know when to stop eating.we can't control,Even though we are not suppose to eat so much/less and we know it.
most of the time we eat what we can get, nobody cares where it come from, how it become. We just eat and decide wether it's tasty or not.So the unhealthy food are tastier than the healthy food.
Isn't there any way of making people concern.
(I'm in a speech competition, give me suggestions on healthy food plzz?)

Scientists have a tendency of bursting issues out of proportion. although their talk on availability of harmful chemicals in foods is true, i think what they dont tell us is that their quantity is so minimal that their harmful effect is negligible. they should learn to speak with statistics.

I think it's important to note that a lot of stuff that was once thought to be okay for you is terrible--like a lot of the foods on shelves in the cracker and cookie aisle... low fat, but then many of them even had trans fat that were worse!
I think a big thing which will help people like me in the United States is the labeling of trans fats because a lot of companies are changing their recipes so the food is healthier.

Western countries overlook the art of Asian cooking. The easy way to cook health & low cost food into delicious cusine. The easy to learn art of stir-fry, use of wok, garlic, ginger & Asian spicies.
I think western parents should embrace the easy Asian way of cooking rather then telling the kids to eat healthy food. The way to turn ordinary food into a far more "superior" options compare to western fast food.

Hmmm, food is one of the matters that humans really do take serious. Well, as far as I know & what is in my knowledge, we should eat random food, I mean we should not eat the same dish over & over again. We should keep a balanced diet, we should take in enough protiens & carbohydrates thats required by the body & if it crosses the limit then it causes problems. For example, in a week we should eat three days vegetables, two days meat & two days other food, & not to forget the fruits, its the most important part of diet. A person should get one third vitamins required for the body from the fruits.
So eat well & you'll have a great life.

Somehow Asian style of cooking can give spice to boring but healthy food. E.g.: Curry powder, spices, chillies, garlic, ginger, spring onion & stir fried

U set rules to eat health & pressure urself to follow is boring. But if u make it as a kind of food culture & cusine will b a different story. Deliciously cooked health food should not b consider as luxuries

I really don't think it's the scientists, possibly media and general hype due to word of mouth.

Potato health benefits discovered
The humble potato could lower your blood pressure
Potatoes may be healthier to eat than previously thought, after scientists found them to contain chemicals which lower blood pressure.
The independent Institute of Food Research says the chemicals, called kukoamines, occurred naturally in many common types of potato.
Scientists at the Norwich institute stumbled upon the chemicals while studying potatoes for other reasons.
They say boiling potatoes may preserve the health benefits better than frying.
Sleeping sickness
The scientists were studying genetically-modified potatoes and ordinary ones to compare their chemical make-up when they discovered the kukoamines.
The say they knew the chemicals existed in some Chinese herbal remedies but had not expected to find them in potatoes.
As well as being known to lower blood pressure, they are also used to treat the disease known as "sleeping sickness", which is widespread in parts of Africa.
Producers of potatoes have welcomed the news.
One farmer told BBC News he could be growing potatoes for medicine in future, as well as for eating,
i dont know whether to listen to scientists or not in this particular matter. because they keep changing their statements every now and then.
every saturday i check the health report that comes with the newspaper and they are always arguing over whether tea is good or bad!!!
I always have what looks and tastes good to me...now however tasty some dishes are if i dont like the look then i never touch it
I like to eat healthy, no Mcdonalds for me ! though i can have loads of icecream with no regrets !
its all about enjoying whatever one eats .... if one is forced to eat something then one can never truly benefit from it...one should always try to like and appreciate the food they eat...no quick bites ...eat slowly and stay healthy !
cheers ,
Anu
