Are you young and want to take action on the MDG's? This could be your chance!

I have gone through the MDGs documents and I would like to find out why there seems to be silence on a framework for youth dvelopment in the MDGs?

I think there is a place for youth development in the Mellinium development goals (MDGs)and different youth activities and campaigns towards achieving the MDGs are on top gear(i.e, in the area of ICTs)

Youth have been sidelined
March 29, 2005 - 07:41 AM

The old have decided to cling onto power still insisting that the youth are leaders of tomorrow.
They have lots of fear of what would happen should youth take charge. Young people are known to be aggressive and innovative while the old would prefer to cling to their conservative beliefs.
We should rise up to the occassion as young people and take those leadership positions.

It's true. The old is being real ignorant about today's youth raising up and taking power. They waste time critizing us, and instead of making us better for the future.

Where Are We? Here We Are!
June 6, 2005 - 05:55 AM

Millennium Development Goals(MDGs) does give us chances and opportunities to do what we wanna do.for example, through TIG we help achieve the MDGs by involved in many kind of activities.WE HELP ACHIEVE A BETTER WORLD.
and by doing that--aware or not--we actually develop ourselves, our potention, our desires, and our dreams.
so if someone ask me where are the youth? i'll say:
Here We Are!

does anybody hear me?

The problem with the youth today is a delusion that nobody listens to us.and that we can't make a difference.
If we take the case of south asia, many of the major political revolutions in the past, have been spearheaded by the youth. But today educated youth are simply not interested in politics.there is hardly any strong student's movement in the region and neither do we have any strong representation in our parliament.
it is our need to have the voice of new generation in the current political arena. But there are hardly any takers for this career!!!

Welcome to my reality.

According to Act 174, should I speak ill of the government in any way, I'll get expelled, my name blacklisted, and I could risk being detained by ISA for up to three years without trial.

I can, however piss on anyone elses' governments and the opposition to my heart's content.

Double-standards? You better believe it.

Well here is the new organisation of youth that suports the MDG's
April 12, 2006 - 07:21 AM

Me and some other students started a new project to support the millennium goals. We are also a non-profit organisation and where young and fresh and don't care what religion ore culture you’re from you can join us and work together with al lot of other students and ex-students. We only have one goal and that's to be trustable and open about donations in all organisations. You can check our site www.trustinopensource.com but you could also help! If you like to be a part off this send a e-mail to L.v.Goor@trustinopensource.com . Be an Optimist! (and also a realist)

Firstly your site is in one of scandinavian languages if i m not wrong, so can you put a link with an english version so that we can see what it is about ?!

Secondly many people are talking about MDGs and some people say they created NGOs or some other organizatins to support these MDGs. The question is how measurable is what your particular organization will achieve in terms of MDGs. Not for sake of being nasty or smth, its of course very good to have this motto about achieveing MDGs but how real things are? Is there any means of measuring ,say after 5 years, that indeed your organization(s) contributed into any of MDGs??!

And thirdly, as i mentionned in some other thread, take a look at Copenhagen consensus of 2003 to see which are the priorities among MDGs according to some knwoledgable people.

H.

Well first of al thank you for your replay.

As you can see…the website isn’t ready yet, and were still working on it. When you look at such site, you could think… well f*ck them it’s not going to work, but you could also think, “Well maby they need some help!?”. And yes we have here in Holland fore translators and they working on it. On the end off this week de site will be also in English available.

The second question was ”how measurable is what your particular organization will achieve in terms of MDGs.” Well I can’t tell you now but after 5 years I will, and maby one off the child we saved in Africa to… .

But I took a look into Copenhagen consensus of 2003 but the only thing I can say about that… we will see. And you know what I didn’t really explain what our organisation is all about, but give me an week an you can read it on our site, give me a month and you can read it in five different languages.

But I can see your very realistic and that’s a good thing but also dare to dream and following your dream and of course the realistic consequences. But thank you for your reaction, I hope we could work to getter one time!
