Social Reform? I'm not convinced...
April 3, 2005 - 11:56 AM

Firstly i think it's pretty much impossible to 'cure negative attitudes in society,' firstly what one section of society deems as a negative attitude another section won't feel the same way - you can't dictate how people feel, which even if you could is unethical and a bit to Orwellian for my liking.

The MDG's cannot be only achieved through only social reform, we could try 'social reform' (whatever that means) as much as we like but if a countries government doesn't have a enough money to provide 'water to a community then we need not worry about 'society/culture/education or anything' because the community won't exist!

There is no single answer for dealing with poverty only combined efforts by all parties.

Finally, Britain donated approximately $600 dollars for the tsunami redevelopment $500 was from public donations however even if we had donated from $1 billion of tax payers money i would appreciate that that is still a tiny proportion of the UK's or Australia's yearly budget which would help a lot more people in Asia then in Britain/Australia. I don’t deny poverty in either country however some altruism should be forthcoming when 150,000 people die.

My post wasn't meant to be antagonistic but i just wanted respond to what had been said,

Thanks Dan

Education about Money and transforming it is the key!!!
April 4, 2005 - 10:53 AM

Money being a man-made tool of commerce and exchange should not be made scarcely available as usury (compound interest) based debt or compound interest bearing loan. The conventional fiat-money, no longer secured by anything but legal sanctions behind it, derives its value from people's faith and perception (beliefs) about money. Concentration of wealth and extremes of poverty is a result of progressive monetarization of economies through centralized monopoly banking system, which is the legacy of colonnial times.

Learning what money is, how it comes into circulation and how it is allocated/distributed, how the monopoly of one-two world currencies are disempowering people everywhere and corrupting all institutions is a must before we can create the structural foundation for better society, community and peaceful abundance for all. More of us are engaged in learning about and solving the money problem ..quicker we can change reality for all life in the planet.
Cheers
