Independent people to people news network

Hey all! Most of you dont know me here so heres a quick intro. I graduated from UWCAC from 2004 and currently am a freshman at Williams College, MA. Myself and a couple of others started this really cool project about 5 months ago and we are a month away from launching it. Heres a quick description (you will love this if you dislike mainstream media).
"A people-to-people news-sharing website for independent and freelance journalism. It allows users to share independent, non-syndicated, non-mainstream, people-to-people news with each other, as well publish it on the website for global exposure. It also allows amateur and freelance journalists, writers, reporters, photographers and political observers to network with each other.
This is the vision: an independent, non-partisan news network that directly connects millions of people around the world, breaking down the traditional syndication and censorship of information in regular news media. ShoutMouth will be the first serious journalism person-to-person media news network which will be an alternative to traditional, syndicated and biased news sources.
It is important to grasp that the sort of independent, people-to-people news on this website is not intended to be the sort of news available on CNN, BBC, Reuters etc. It is news/opinions generated by amateur journalists, writers and photographers who have something interesting to report, but haven’t been able to do so through traditional media channels. We call this concept “Citizen Reporting” – where anyone user can become a reporter - and we believe that this concept will replace the traditional news reporting model currently employed by mainstream networks. For example, people in Iraq and Afghanistan can broadcast daily news (with multimedia- pictures, text and videos) of the war around them, directly to millions of other users around the world. Tsunami disaster victims can broadcast personal reports of the chaos around them. Dissidents within large corporations can reveal malpractices before they are publicly discovered. Independent observers in troubled spots such as Kashmir or Palestine can directly relate the events around them to a global audience. All of this can be done without having to go through established media networks that are partisan, biased and selective."
We are currently looking for citizen reporters. If you think you would like to be involved in the above, please shoot me an email (you get paid for this too!). My email is 08mmh@williams.edu / murtaza@gamingventura.com.
Best,
Murtaza

I really like your idea and would like to know more about this. I agree that news these days is lacking something out-there to keep us interested and well informed. Alot of it just seems so biased and to be honest Im bored of these mainstream media coverages.
What your proposing kind of sounds like a forum I am currently involed with called actfam which stands for Actualite femmes du Pacifique. Like Pacwin (Pacific Women's Information Network). But French speaking.
Essentially both of these work the same way. And users are able to subscribe for free and receive access to upload news reports or articles, basically anything that might be of interest to other women using the service. And it is sent throughout the address book for all users to view.
I would be interested to learn more about the launching of this "network".
Keep us posted on your developments.
