hello every body!
For a long time there is question in my mind that why do people sometimes tell lies when the lie doesnt benefit them anything?
plz answer if u have experienced this and explain it through the observations of science and psychology.

Maybe people are bored with their lives or have a low self-esteem and lie to raise their confidence and create something so unreal to them yet perfect. Maybe if other people believe them then it's easier for them to believe in themselves so lies just come out naturally. It's not really bad if it's not hurting anyone because in a way it can make things more interesting, although the truth is always just the best.

Yes, telling the truth is best. I used to tell a lot of lies when I was younger but now I try to tell the truth at all times. That doesn't mean I always tell *all* the truth. Enter Diplomacy.
I can say from hard experience that it is much more difficult on the surface to tell the truth. I have found though that lies take on a life of their own and usually have a way of surfacing at the worst possible time. Never fails for me anyway!

Hi,
you know, people smt lie to embellish their lives. And if it doesn't hurt anybody, I think it's not bad. Or people afraid of being misunderstood.
What do you think about it?

honesty has always been my best policy. however, i have learnt in recent years that sometimes coming out with the whole truth can hurt or affect other people in very different ways. at the same time, when one begins to lie it becomes very difficult to straighten things out and get back to the truth, to break the chain of lies. we are taught from a young age not to tell lies, yet they become prevalent in many facets of society as we grow older.
i believe it is best to try and analyse what you really want to say - but at the same time how the recipient will interpret it. i guess its not really lying, just 'bending the truth' sometimes!! as long as youre honest with yourself... and clear in your communication.

Hi there,
Here is the passage from "The catcher in the rye": "I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It's awful. If I'm on my way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I'm going, I'm liable to say I'm going to the opera."
I have a friend (a girl)who calls only to know do I have a boyfriend or not.So the last time I talked to her, I said YES (but it was lie). So I lied to avoid critics and the words such "it's smth wrong with you" or "you're queer".
Sure, truth is better.

Lie and fear

For me there is no reason to lie except when we feel "fear", and unfortunately sometime we feel fear for unreasonable thing, and directly we lie for some unreasonable thing ! so I conclude that we can not lie if we can overcome our fear...(I think it will be more a phsycological aspects)

i am being honest. I dunno...the passage Lentocha repeated from 'catcher in the rye' is a good one to express my feelings..its like, hell - like a habit. What i think when im lying, good question...dunno, i dont think much...i like sort of just reel away...anmd out of one lie another one is produced...sometimes i just shorten things up cz i dont like explaining at the moment or so...its easy and a 'chain' builds up really fast. The problem is breaking it, i mean usually u have far too much pride too say u were lying all the time so either you go on or avoid the whole subjetc till it is sortt of like forgotten, i mean its all white lies i make, i dont ever seriously lie..I start feeling bad when sumone mentions the whole subjetc later on...now, i know - lieing is bad, and id rather not do it, but its hard to stop when one slips out....cant really explain it..well peace to y'all

cos at the time they lie, they thought the benefit is biggest then the damage that will cos
some people just prefer to cover-up as long as possible. Do not realized that if u brave enough to believe honest is the best solution. But among Chinese, Korean & Japanese community, they penalize the person who don't lie & address them as "childish". Some said those countries government always lie to ppl & lying to each other is part of the culture. Cultures that are not brave enough to face the truth & b challenged psychologically.

Fear is the main reason why people lie.
Lying is bad but being lied to is horrible.
Whats better a truth that draws a tear or a lie that brings a smile?

When you say the truth you don't have to remember ,a valuable quote I kept in mind coz saying the truth is the best in all times..but there are some exceptions to this rule and these exceptions lays under the catagory of keeping our faces clean of any thing that might let us look in the eyes of others wrong or less than perfect..
A lie might not hurt but it might change the idea about the liar and put him in the place of a guilty or a criminal...
